About us
SparkForce is a vibrant startup on a mission to dominate the B2B arena. We serve an eclectic mix of clients, from SaaS startups to big-name brands, delivering everything from strategy to seamless execution. We value a dynamic, fast-paced work environment but always find time for fun.
We offer a structured and collaborative environment where operational excellence is valued. Here, you will have the autonomy to manage your accounts, refine our delivery workflows, and play a crucial role in our clients' growth. We focus on sustainable execution, clear communication, and professional development.
About the role
We're looking for a coding-minded intern to join our Growth Operations team for three months. You'll work across two areas: implementing websites, including last-mile work in Webflow and WordPress, and tracking, where you'll learn how digital tracking works, including Google Tag Manager, GA4 and paid media conversion tracking, and help us set up, debug and verify it across our own and our clients' websites. You'll also work with our creative team to turn designs into live sites.
This is a new, exploratory role. You'll shape it as much as we do, and we'll adjust the mix of work based on what you're strong at and enjoy.
What you'll do
- Read and make sense of the code on websites, including ones owned and managed by our clients, to understand why tracking is or isn't working
- Debug tracking issues using browser dev tools, GTM Preview mode, and GA4 DebugView
- Verify that tracking works on the live site, outside the testing environment, by checking real network requests and platform reports
- Support the Marketing Operations Manager in setting up tracking and conversions for paid media campaigns, and take on more advanced setups (custom events, data layer work) as you grow
- Work with the API calls behind tracking and integrations: read requests and responses and understand what data is sent where
- Run QA checks on new and existing tracking setups and document what you find
- Implement websites for creative projects and do the last-mile build work in Webflow and WordPress, together with our designers
- Write clear notes and documentation so that fixes and setups can be repeated by others
What we're looking for
Essential
- A formal background in coding (a degree in progress or completed, or equivalent structured training such as a bootcamp), and comfort with technical terminology
- Solid fundamentals in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You can read unfamiliar code and explain what it does
- Comfort with browser dev tools (Elements, Console, Network)
- A basic understanding of how websites work: how a browser requests and loads a page from a server, and how APIs and HTTP requests fit in
- A methodical approach to debugging: you isolate problems rather than guess
- Clear written communication in English, since you'll explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues
- Curiosity and a willingness to ask questions
A plus, but not required
- Experience with Webflow, WordPress or another CMS
- A strong plus: design skills are not required, but you're comfortable implementing prepared Figma designs in Webflow and WordPress, either by hand or via MCP, and handling the inconsistencies, real-world challenges and UX issues that come up along the way
- Understanding of what affects page speed, such as caching, when and how scripts load, and the impact of third-party scripts like tracking tags
- Basic familiarity with Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics
- Understanding of cookies and consent banners
- Basic Git knowledge
- Personal projects in web development, or hands-on experience with APIs
You don't need a marketing background. We'll teach the tools and the tracking concepts, and we care most about your coding fundamentals and how you think through problems.
What you'll learn
- Last-mile website work in Webflow and WordPress on real creative projects
- How tracking works end to end, from data layer and tags to conversions in ad platforms
- Working with Google Tag Manager, GA4, and platform pixels such as Meta, LinkedIn and Google Ads
- How to verify tracking on live sites, beyond what a test environment shows
- More advanced tracking setups, such as custom events and data layer work
- How the API calls behind tracking and integrations work
- How consent management affects tracking
- How to work professionally with client websites and data
What a typical 3 months look like
- Month 1: Learn our tracking setup and conventions, shadow the Marketing Operations Manager, and debug low-risk issues
- Month 2: Own small tracking and website tasks end to end, including checking them on the live site, with review before anything goes live
- Month 3: Audit client sites, take on more advanced tracking and website implementation tasks, and present what you've learned and recommendations for the role
Working with client data
You'll have access to client systems and sites, so we take data handling seriously. You'll be briefed on what you can and can't access, store or share, and all changes to live setups are reviewed before publishing.
Application
In your submission, tell us about a time you debugged something that wasn't working and how you figured it out. Shortlisted candidates will get a short practical exercise reading and explaining a piece of code.
