Senior VMware Engineer Location: Stockholm, Sweden Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office Eligibility: Swedish citizenship required Language: Fluent spoken and written English Education: C grade or equivalent required Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Senior VMware Engineer to join our team in Stockholm. You will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and developing a large-scale VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment. The role is highly hands-on and requires strong expertise across VMware infrastructure, networking, automation, and Kubernetes. Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and develop a large-scale VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment.
• Work hands-on with:
• VMware vSphere
• ESXi
• vCenter
• NSX
• vSAN
• VCF Operations
• Support and develop VKS / VMware Tanzu Kubernetes capabilities.
• Troubleshoot complex VMware, Kubernetes, networking, and infrastructure issues.
• Perform VCF lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching.
• Work with NSX networking, routing, and security.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and networking teams on platform integrations.
• Support integrations with enterprise infrastructure and services.
• Contribute to technical standards, documentation, and operational processes.
• Continuously improve the reliability, automation, scalability, and capabilities of the Private Cloud platform.

Required Experience VMware Cloud Foundation

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with vSphere and NSX.
• Proven experience operating and managing enterprise VMware environments at scale.

Networking – Critical Requirement Thorough understanding of traditional networking concepts, including:

• VLANs
• Routing
• Switching
• DNS
• IP networking

Automation

• Strong understanding of VMware Aria Automation (vRA).
• Strong experience with VMware Aria Orchestrator (vRO) and workflow development.
• Experience developing and maintaining automation workflows.

Kubernetes

• Hands-on experience with VKS / VMware Tanzu Kubernetes.
• Experience working with container platforms in enterprise environments.

Lifecycle & Operations

• Experience with VMware patching, upgrades, lifecycle management, and advanced troubleshooting.
• Experience managing large-scale VMware infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of structured ITIL, incident management, and change management processes.

Communication

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Ability to work effectively with infrastructure, networking, security, and other technical teams.

Desirable Skills Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

• Terraform
• PowerCLI / PowerShell
• Python / Ansible
• Git / GitHub
• VMware HCX
• Large-scale private cloud environments

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a hands-on senior infrastructure professional with strong VMware expertise, excellent networking fundamentals, and experience working with enterprise-scale private cloud environments. You should be comfortable troubleshooting complex infrastructure environments, working across multiple technologies, and contributing to automation, platform development, and continuous improvement.
