I. Position Overview
The Vice President of Communications is responsible for formulating and executing the company’s global or national communications strategy, unifying internal and external messaging, and enhancing brand reputation and market influence.
This role typically involves direct engagement with major corporate events, media relations, executive external communications, crisis communications, corporate storytelling, and employee communications. The position requires close collaboration with the CEO, the Board of Directors, the executive leadership team, and departments such as Marketing, Sales, and Business Development.
II. Core Responsibilities
- Corporate Communications Strategy
- Develop annual and long-term corporate communications strategies.
- Establish a unified corporate messaging framework and brand narrative.
- Translate corporate strategy into clear, consistent communications content.
- Tailor communications strategies to specific markets and stakeholder groups.
- Media and Public Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with mainstream media, industry publications, and professional journalists.
- Manage press releases, media statements, interviews, and corporate news announcements.
- Orchestrate media exposure for executives and the dissemination of major corporate news.
- Elevate the company’s brand awareness and thought leadership within target industries.
- Executive Communications
- Provide strategic communications support to executives (CEO, EVP, VP, etc.).
- Prepare speeches, interview materials, public statements, and key talking points.
- Assist executives in establishing a consistent, professional public image.
- Support corporate leadership participation in industry conferences, forums, and public events.
- Corporate Brand and Reputation
- Manage overall corporate reputation and public perception.
- Develop the corporate brand story and core value propositions.
- Ensure consistency of corporate messaging across all channels.
- Monitor brand reputation, media coverage, and industry sentiment.
- Crisis Communications
- Establish corporate crisis communication mechanisms.
- Formulate media and public communication strategies for crisis situations.
- Coordinate with legal, operations, executive leadership, and external PR teams.
- Rapidly develop statements, FAQs, and stakeholder communication materials.
- Internal Communications
- Establish the company’s internal communications system. - Support the CEO and senior executives in communicating strategies, business changes, and major decisions to employees.
- Manage employee communications, leadership messaging, and significant internal announcements.
- Enhance employee understanding of corporate strategy and culture.
- Content and Communication Channels
- Oversee corporate news, official website content, social media, and other communication channels.
- Establish enterprise-wide content planning and editorial standards.
- Ensure communication content aligns with brand positioning and corporate strategy.
- Maintain collaboration with digital marketing, branding, and content teams.
- Major Project Communications
- Develop communication plans for new products, new markets, strategic partnerships, M&A activities, and corporate events.
- Manage major news releases and communications for corporate events.
- Coordinate internal teams, media, partners, and external PR agencies.
- Team and External Agency Management
- Manage teams responsible for Communications, PR, and Corporate Affairs.
- Establish team objectives, budgets, and performance management systems.
- Manage external PR agencies, media relations firms, and communication consultants.
- Control communication budgets and evaluate return on investment (ROI).
III. Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism/Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, English, or a related field.
- MBA, Master’s in Communications, or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
Work Experience
- 20+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, brand communications, or strategic communications.
- Experience in communication management within large enterprises or cross-regional organizations.
- Senior management experience (e.g., VP, Head of Communications, Corporate Communications Director).
