Tiler

The duties of a waterproofer and tiler include a wide range of wet-room and tiling work in both new-build and renovation projects. Work areas include bathrooms, toilets, saunas, utility rooms, kitchens, and other interior and exterior spaces requiring tiling.

The duties include:

• Reviewing construction drawings and work instructions

• Protecting the work area and inspecting the condition of the substrate

• Removing old tiles, waterproofing membranes, and other surface materials when necessary

• Cleaning, sanding, levelling, and straightening wall and floor surfaces

• Checking floor slopes and correcting them when necessary

• Applying primers and preparing surfaces

• Waterproofing wet rooms in accordance with the system manufacturers instructions

• Carefully sealing corners, penetrations, joints, and floor drains

• Measuring, planning, setting out, and installing wall and floor tiles

• Cutting, drilling, and fitting tiles

• Preparing and applying tile adhesive

• Grouting tiled surfaces and applying silicone sealant

• Epoxy grouting and other specialist grouting when required

• Cleaning, finishing, and protecting completed surfaces

The work involves handling various types of tiles, including ceramic tiles, clinker tiles, mosaics, and natural-stone tiles. The employee must be able to use the materials, machinery, tools, and equipment required for waterproofing and tiling work.

The position requires care, precision, high-quality workmanship, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The employee must be able to read construction drawings, take the necessary measurements, follow site schedules, and comply with material manufacturers installation instructions.
