Thesis Worker - Fleet Management

Background Currently, it is unclear which communication and fleet management architecture provides the best performance, scalability, and robustness for an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) fleet. Therefore, this thesis will investigate and evaluate different approaches to provide guidance for the future implementation and deployment of AMR systems. Thesis Scope & Deliverables The purpose of this thesis is to investigate which type of communication technology and fleet management architecture is most suitable for coordinating a fleet of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), with a focus on robustness, scalability, real-time performance, and efficient resource utilization.

• Which communication technology is most suitable for the AMR fleet, such as Wi-Fi, private 5G, long-range technologies or other wireless communication technologies.
• Should fleet management be centralized, decentralized, or hybrid?
• How do communication latency, packet loss, and network load affect the performance of an AMR fleet?

MovAI simulation test

• How should task allocation and prioritization between robots be managed?
• How can the system scale from a small number of AMRs to a larger fleet?
• Which criteria should be used to evaluate and compare different solutions?
