Thesis Opportunity: S&OP Development

Systemair is a leading company in ventilation with operations in 54 countries in Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Africa. Since the founding of Systemair in 1974, the company has shown positive operating profit. Over the past 10 years, average growth has reached about 10 percent. The company manufactures and markets energy-efficient and sustainable products that contribute to an improved indoor climate and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. About the Assignment We are seeking a master’s student to conduct a thesis project focused on the continued development of our Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. The project is part of our journey towards a more integrated, data-driven, and globally aligned planning process across our manufacturing and distribution network. Objective The objective is to assess the current S&OP maturity, identify improvement opportunities, and propose a future-state S&OP framework that enhances the alignment between customer demand, operational capabilities, inventory strategy, and business objectives. Main Areas The thesis work may cover one or more of the following areas:

• Map and evaluate the current S&OP process across functions and locations, including roles, governance, and decision-making structures.
• Identify gaps and improvement opportunities across demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, and business planning.
• Benchmark current practices against leading S&OP frameworks and evaluate data availability, planning accuracy, and KPI structures.
• Analyze how the planning process supports business objectives, including growth, customer service, and working capital performance.
• Explore opportunities for increased digitalization and the use of planning tools.
• Propose a future-state S&OP framework, including governance, meeting structure, KPIs, and decision flows.
• Develop a roadmap for implementation and change management.

Expected Outcomes The expected outcomes may include one or more of the following:

• Current-state assessment and maturity evaluation.
• Benchmark study and best-practice review.
• Gap analysis and identified improvement opportunities.
• Future-state S&OP framework.
• Recommended KPI structure and performance management approach.
• Implementation roadmap with prioritized actions.

Who are We Looking For? You are currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Logistics, Supply chain, Production Engineering, or a related field. You are analytically minded, curious about supply chain and logistics processes, and comfortable working independently. Additional Information The thesis project is connected to our operations in Skinnskatteberg. While some activities, meetings, and collaboration are best conducted on site, much of the work can be carried out remotely.
