What you'll do

Systemair is a leading company in ventilation with operations in 54 countries in Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Africa. Since the founding of Systemair in 1974, the company has shown positive operating profit. Over the past 10 years, average growth has reached about 10 percent. The company manufactures and markets energy-efficient and sustainable products that contribute to an improved indoor climate and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. We make sure that there is clean air that allows us humans to live and work together. How can a well-functioning warehouse operation become even better? At Systemair's Distribution Center, we are committed to continuously improving the way we work and developing our processes. Through your thesis project, you will have the opportunity to analyze real-world data, identify opportunities for further optimization, and contribute with improvement proposals that create value for the business, while putting your academic knowledge into practice. About the Thesis Project This thesis project focuses on warehousing, logistics, and quality improvement, with the scope defined around one or more of the areas presented below. Together, we will shape the project's objectives, research questions, and methodology based on your interests and our business needs. The aim is to create a thesis project that is both academically relevant and valuable to our operations. Below are examples of focus areas and research topics that may serve as the foundation for the thesis project.

  • Warehouse Layout Optimization

Analyze the current warehouse layout and evaluate alternative storage and slotting strategies to assess their impact on picking times, forklift traffic, and capacity utilization.

  • ABC Classification and Product Slotting

Investigate how product placement affects productivity and to what extent travel distances can be reduced through the relocation of high-frequency items. The project may also explore data-driven slotting strategies based on product turnover, weight, and order patterns.

  • Measuring and Improving Picking Efficiency

Investigate how picking routes and standard times influence productivity and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of the picking process.

  • Data Analysis for Improved Inventory Accuracy and Delivery Quality

Explore the relationships between inventory discrepancies, process deviations, and delivery quality to identify opportunities for improvement. Based on the analysis, develop recommendations for control procedures, digital support systems, and quality assurance practices that can further enhance operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and delivery performance.

  • Automation And Future Logistics Technologies

Explore how automation can enhance our warehouse operations by assessing relevant technologies for storage, handling, picking, packing, and transportation. The project may include mapping the current warehouse automation market, identifying current and future relevant technology providers, benchmarking industry practices, and evaluating solutions that best fit our warehouse profile and operational needs. Who Are We Looking For? You are currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Production Engineering, or a related field. Creating value together through real-world challenges As a thesis student at Systemair, you will gain access to real-world processes and operational data, supported by experienced supervisors throughout the project. You will have the opportunity to put your academic knowledge into practice and contribute with new perspectives, analyses, and insights that support our ambition of continuously developing our operations. Additional information The thesis project is connected to our operations in Skinnskatteberg. While some activities, meetings, and collaboration are best conducted on site, much of the work can be carried out remotely. We offer flexibility and will plan the level of on-site presence together based on the project's needs. The application deadline is October 31, 2026. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, which means the position may be filled before the closing date. We therefore encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
