What you'll do

About the role

In this position, you will work as a consultant through Academic Work, placed at a world-leading company specializing in grid solutions and renewable energy. You will join the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, focusing on the development and testing of advanced STATCOM products (Flexible AC Transmission Systems).

We are looking for someone who either already has experience in power electronics testing or possesses the technical foundation and strong motivation to grow into a specialist role. You will be supported by a team of experts while taking ownership of crucial testing phases.

Work tasks

As a Test Engineer, your role is to ensure the quality and functionality of complex systems. Your responsibilities include:

  • Testing & Validation: Performing software and FPGA validation testing and working within a medium voltage lab environment.
  • Simulation: Utilizing Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) facilities to verify system performance.
  • Planning: Contributing to the development of test plans and specifications for power electronics products.
  • Collaboration: Coordinating activities across different teams and reporting progress to stakeholders.
  • Documentation: Creating and updating detailed test procedures and technical reports.

We are looking for

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • A solid understanding of power electronics fundamentals.
  • Experience with—or a high interest in learning—RTDS testing.
  • Familiarity with software validation and basic knowledge of FPGA/Ethernet technologies.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Any of the following is considered a plus:

  • Basic experience with test automation (e.g., Python, Robot Framework, or MATLAB).
  • Previous experience in an R&D or laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of JIRA or similar project management tools.
