We’re looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to help shape a new gaming platform, take ownership of the backend and grow the engineering team around it. You’ll join while the foundations are still taking shape, with real influence over the architecture, technical standards and decisions that will matter as the platform grows. And you’ll stay close to the code, writing, reviewing and shipping alongside the people building it. The company Founded by experienced iGaming professionals, this is an established business entering an exciting stage of growth. There’s entrepreneurial energy, a small team and a flat structure, with direct access to the people making decisions. You’ll have room to bring your ideas, challenge an approach and move things forward. What you’ll take ownership of The backend runs on Kotlin in AWS, with MySQL and a React back office. An existing frontend team owns the customer-facing experience. You’ll lead the APIs and backend services that power it, working closely with Product and the external development partner. Your role will include: - Building and shipping: writing production code, reviewing contributions and setting engineering standards through your own work. - Shaping the platform: making practical architecture decisions that keep it reliable, scalable and maintainable. - Leading technical delivery: owning the journey from development and testing to deployment, monitoring and ongoing improvements. - Working with the development partner: shaping solutions, reviewing deliveries and keeping quality high. - Building for a regulated market: incorporating regulatory requirements, including those of the Swedish Gambling Authority, into technical development. - Growing the team: helping hire and support the first in-house developers and engineers. Who would enjoy this role? You’re an experienced backend engineer who still enjoys the actual building. You want technical responsibility, feel comfortable making decisions and can explain why an approach makes sense. You’ll bring: - Strong Kotlin experience, or a solid Java background and a genuine interest in working with Kotlin. - Experience building and running services in AWS, using relational databases such as MySQL. - Experience with platforms in high-transaction or regulated environments. - Good technical judgement, including knowing when to keep things simple. - Confidence working with external development partners and leading technical decisions. - Comfort with a small, fast-moving team where priorities can shift. iGaming experience is a plus.
