System Engineer

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer – Communication Solutions to join an organisation operating within the defence and high-technology sector. As Lead Engineer, you will hold overarching technical responsibility across the department, acting as a Design Authority and helping ensure that system solutions meet technical requirements, are feasible to deliver and follow established engineering and development processes. Key Responsibilities

• Act as Design Authority, providing senior technical oversight across projects and system deliveries.
• Ensure system solutions are technically feasible and meet defined technical and system requirements.
• Review and approve key technical milestones and engineering decisions.
• Support projects in the correct application of Systems Engineering processes, development processes and technical methodologies.
• Carry out and contribute to technical investigations and provide expert engineering guidance.
• Review technical approaches across projects and identify potential technical risks or issues.
• Support the continued development of engineering processes, ways of working and technical governance across the department.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Product Management and other stakeholders to maintain high-quality technical delivery.
• Balance technical decisions with wider business objectives, delivery requirements and commercial considerations.

Essential Requirements

• Senior-level experience within Systems Engineering, technical leadership or a similar engineering leadership role.
• Strong experience working within complex engineering and product development environments.
• Excellent understanding of Systems Engineering and structured development processes.
• Experience working with complex and advanced system-level deliveries.
• Strong understanding of technical governance and engineering decision-making.
• Ability to review, challenge and provide guidance on technical solutions across multiple projects.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of how engineering decisions contribute to wider business objectives and profitability.
• Structured approach to engineering, with the ability to work effectively within established processes and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
