Student assistant (research) for Department of Economics

Working as a Student Assistant at Department of Economics At the Department of Economics (ECON), Copenhagen Business School (CBS) we regard it a central task to explain what motivates decision-makers, how economic institutions are, or should be, designed, and whether the interaction between institutional design and motivation leads to an efficient or optimal outcome from society's point of view. Our research is often related to specific challenges facing different organizations. We are looking for one (perhaps more) student assistants to support our research and work an average of 15 hours per week, but there is a large degree of flexibility, including during exam periods. Tasks in the position The student assistant will contribute to research on wages, employment, and production. Research topics may include, but are not limited to, the reallocation of workers across firms and the determinants of individual wages and career trajectories. The student assistant’s primary responsibilities will involve data processing, cleaning, and analysis, along with occasional ad hoc research tasks. Requirements For Experience/qualifications And Personal Skills The student assistant should have a strong understanding of statistics and econometrics and be comfortable writing clear, well-documented code. The position requires proficiency in processing, consolidating, and transforming datasets within and across databases, as well as strong data visualization and organizational skills. Candidates should also be able to work independently. The research project relies primarily on Stata, so preference will be given to candidates with experience using Stata. Familiarity with Python or Julia is an advantage but is not required. Experience working with Danish register data is also a plus but not necessary. Fluency in English is required. Salary and terms of employment Employment takes place in accordance with the HK organisational agreement and the Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Publicly Employed Organisations (OAO-S Collective Agreement). The salary currently ranges between DKK 145.73 and DKK 152.88 per hour and is dependent on previous employment in the office profession and level of education. The pension contribution amounts to 16% of the pensionable salary components. It is a prerequisite for employment that you are an active student at a higher educational institution. The employment is time-limited for the period from 15 October 2026 to 14 October 2027.
