What you'll do

At Viaplay Group, we entertain millions of people every day through our streaming services, radio networks, and TV channels. We believe in the power of content not just as a way of telling stories and touching lives, but also expanding worlds. We’re looking for the best people to join us on our journey. Right now, we’re searching for our next colleague to join as a Streaming Engineer to help us protect our content and strengthen the technology behind a secure, reliable streaming experience. The role is in our Stockholm office. Are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change? The Role As a Streaming Engineer for content protection at Viaplay, you will develop and operate the security controls that protect our streams, from DRM infrastructure to enforcement at the CDN edge. Working closely with other streaming engineers, backend engineers and other specialists across Viaplay, you will turn protection requirements into practical solutions for live and on-demand streaming. You will also collaborate with technology partners to improve our protection capabilities while maintaining playback quality and reliability. Together we have a passion for streaming, and we are keen on finding our next colleague to join us in our mission! What a day can look like The improvement you work on helps protect the stories and sporting moments our viewers come for, while keeping playback smooth. You’ll see your ideas become working safeguards across the streaming platform. The focuses will be on - Strengthen security across CDN and streaming delivery and its supporting services. - Develop and maintain content protection systems and investigate issues affecting playback. - Help ensure content is delivered in line with protection requirements across supported devices. - Improve controls that protect streaming resources from unauthorized access and misuse. - Identify weaknesses in the delivery path and help respond to unauthorized distribution. - Investigate production issues, improve monitoring, and test changes for their effect on security, performance, and playback reliability. What we’re looking for You are curious in understanding how streaming systems work and finding practical ways to make them more secure. You combine structured problem-solving with a collaborative approach and are comfortable moving between development and operational investigation. You’re drawn to problems without an obvious answer and willing to challenge how things are done. You think in systems, connecting the details to the bigger picture. You’re curious about working alongside AI agents where setting direction, delegating tasks and challenging the results is a natural part of your work. You bring the confidence to experiment and the judgement to own what you deliver. We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have experience in some of the following areas: - Experience working with streaming technologies such as HLS, MPEG-DASH, ABR packaging, CDNs and DRM - Experience with CDN security configuration and measures to prevent unauthorized streaming. - An understanding of HTTP delivery, caching, access tokens and how security controls affect streaming behavior - Experience with cloud services and operating or troubleshooting production streaming systems - Experience or a curiosity to learn using AI-assisted tools, to support development, troubleshooting and automation, with sound judgement when reviewing outputs for correctness, security and reliability - Clear communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge and work through problems with others - Hands-on experience with DRM systems such as Widevine, PlayReady or FairPlay, including multi-key DRM or key rotation What we offer you - We’ve got you covered! 30 days of paid vacation every year, an attractive pension and insurance scheme, and generous parental leave pay lift. - Your wellbeing matters. We provide you with various wellbeing initiatives including wellness allowance. - Flexibility that works. We follow a hybrid model with at least three days a week in the office, giving you the best mix of collaboration and focus time. - A safe space to grow and up-skill. Our learning culture puts you in the driver’s seat of your own development. - An innovative environment with Hack Days once a year. This week-long initiative allows you to think outside the box and deliver creative, technical solutions that (more often than not) go on to be implemented, either in our product or our ways of working. - Entertainment is what we love, and entertainment is what we do. So, unlimited access to Viaplay seems only fair for you to get to know the product – including serier & viewing events, new release movie rentals, linear channels and more. Hit play today If this feels like your kind of challenge, make sure you apply by attaching your CV here – you may also want to add your LinkedIn profile. Please don’t send us your application via email because we won’t be able to accept it. We do, however, welcome any questions you may have about this particular position.
