About The Role As a Staff Scientist, you will become part of a professional research environment where your specialist competence contributes to the quality and continuity of ongoing scientific work. In this role, you are expected to support research activities with your expertise and to work closely with colleagues and research leaders to help maintain and support the development of the research environment. The position focuses on the operation, development, and scientific exploitation of atmospheric remote-sensing research infrastructures within the division, with a central focus on the long-term operation of the high-resolution solar FTIR stations at Harestua (Norway) and Onsala (Sweden). Another aspect of the position is also to contribute to the continuity and further development of the research infrastructure, including the division's research computing environment and collaboration with national and international partners. About The Division And Department The Department of Environmental and Energy Sciences consists of five research divisions, with the common goal of providing excellent research that can enable solutions for transition to a sustainable society. The department offers a dynamic and inspiring academic environment, and well-developed networks with industry and relevant public stakeholders at national, international and global levels. The Division of Geoscience and Remote Sensing conducts research, education, and utilization within a wide range of scientific and engineering disciplines, including ground-based, airborne and satellite measurements, as well as numerical modeling and data analysis of various climate parameters. The division operates ground-based atmospheric observation infrastructures, including the high-resolution solar FTIR stations at Harestua (Norway) and the Onsala Space Observatory (Sweden), which provide long-term atmospheric composition measurements to the Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change (NDACC) and Total Carbon Column Observing network (TCCON). The Onsala station is also part of the European Research infrastructure ACTRIS.
