Spanish cuisine chef / cook

We are looking for an experienced Chef or Cook with a strong background in Spanish cuisine to join our team in Helsinki, Finland.

We are seeking someone with a deep understanding of traditional Spanish cooking, a genuine passion for hospitality, and the creativity and curiosity to bring those skills into a contemporary and multicultural culinary environment.

Experience or familiarity with Latin American and Caribbean cuisine is considered a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

Prepare Spanish dishes using authentic recipes, ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, including:

• Croquetas

• Cocidos, bean and chickpea stews

• Grilling, roasting and _a la plancha_ cooking

• Sofritos and other culinary bases

• Slow-cooked guisos and stews

• Deep-frying and frituras

• Plantain preparations

• Marinades and adobos

• Rice dishes

The successful candidate should also be willing to learn and prepare Latin American and Caribbean dishes, combining techniques and flavours from different culinary traditions.

Our goal is also to explore new dishes that create an interesting fusion between Spanish and Latin American cuisine, with the possibility of incorporating selected elements of Finnish cuisine.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Following authentic recipes while maintaining high standards of quality, flavour and presentation.

• Contributing to the creation and development of new dishes.

• Bringing creativity to plating and presentation.

• Managing mise en place and food preparation efficiently.

• Maintaining a clean, organised and professional kitchen environment.

• Assisting with inventory management and stock control.

• Following food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards.

• Keeping up to date with contemporary culinary techniques, trends and restaurant presentation styles.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a professional kitchen.

• Proven professional cooking experience.

• Experience with Spanish and/or Latin American cuisine is strongly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of flavour profiles, seasoning, ingredients and cooking techniques.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Ability to remain calm, organised and professional during busy service periods.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Reliable, responsible and positive attitude.

• Spanish language skills are highly valued.

• Candidates should provide verifiable professional references from previous employment.

Eligibility to Work in Finland

Candidates must have EU citizenship or a valid residence/work permit that allows them to work in Finland.
