Software Engineer, Automation and Tooling

We take pride in building tools for people who build the world around us. About the Role IAR is part of Qt Group, operating as an independent business focused on embedded software development. We provide software development tools that help engineers develop, debug, test, and secure embedded software for products across automotive, industrial automation, medical technology, and other industries. We’re looking for a Software Engineer for the team that owns IAR's license management platform. It’s the system that lets customers access and run IAR's software tools, whether through a cloud-based, subscription-ready platform or on-premises. The team works across the full stack, from the client software installed on developers' machines to the services and infrastructure behind it. As a Software Engineer, you'll take ownership of the license client components used across IAR's product portfolio, while getting exposure to the wider platform and plenty of room to grow in the direction that interests you. What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain the license client software used across IAR's products to access and validate licenses.
• Support and evolve our cloud-based, subscription licensing platform alongside our on-premises offering.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the client and backend services, including occasional work in our license back-office systems.
• Collaborate closely with the rest of the team on architecture, priorities, and technical decisions.
• Get involved in wider platform work, including web services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.

What You Bring to the Table

• Professional experience in C++ software development.
• Automation and scripting skills in Python or similar languages.
• Experience building or integrating web services and APIs.
• Comfortable working across both Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with containerized development using Docker.
• Good communication skills in English.

Bonus Points For...

• Exposure to cloud technologies (e.g. Azure), microservices, or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Git/GitLab, or Artifactory.
• Experience with C# and/or Java, useful for our license back-office and integration services.
