What you'll do

Senior Test Engineer Company Description Are you looking for a company that offers a variety of assignments and gives you the chance to work with innovation and new technologies? At Actrify, you will work on exciting projects and help shape the world we want to live in. Skills development is a central part of Actrify's DNA, and we are always looking for new, ingenious and bold talent. Meet your new challenges together with us and join a fast-growing company. The Assignment Actrify is building a Test Team, a dedicated engineering team supporting automotive software test organizations and test infrastructure environments in Gothenburg. The organization is scaling fast. Over-the-air updates and new vehicle software functions keep creating demand for new test methods, and the test infrastructure has to keep up. Test Team’s mission is to keep that infrastructure reliable and available. That’s the test teams focus on testing, and the customer's own organization focuses on what comes next. We work along three lines:

  • Stabilise: structured, tiered issue handling for all stakeholder groups
  • Solve: fast, methodical troubleshooting of Car-box and ViL (Vehicle-in-the-Loop) issues, with full traceability
  • Improve: continuous improvement of tools and processes to reduce recurring failures over time

Job Description This is not a traditional testing role. You will focus on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the infrastructure and tools that automotive software test teams depend on. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshoot automotive test rigs, ECU test benches, Car-box setups, and HIL/SIL/ViL environments.
  • Diagnose hardware, software, network, and configuration issues using logs, traces, and diagnostic tools.
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts and automation utilities to improve infrastructure reliability and engineering efficiency.
  • Configure and troubleshoot automotive test tools and platforms, including Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, dSPACE SCALEXIO, ControlDesk, and AutomationDesk.
  • Support MATLAB/Simulink-based simulation environments and test configurations where applicable.
  • Verify test infrastructure and automation following software updates, configuration changes, and tool releases.
  • Analyse vehicle communication and diagnostics involving CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, and UDS.
  • Support test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, ECU flashing, and OTA-related activities where required.
  • Document incidents, root causes, troubleshooting procedures, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with test engineers, embedded software developers, system specialists, and infrastructure owners.

Who are you? You enjoy finding out why something doesn't work, and you don't stop until it's fixed. You are structured and calm under pressure, you communicate clearly with different stakeholders, and you have a strong get-it-done mentality. You prefer improving the system to just putting out the same fire again. You are curious, not afraid to ask questions, and a true team player. Qualifications

  • MSc/BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Embedded Software or similar
  • 5–12 years of experience in automotive test infrastructure, test automation or test systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software and networks
  • Experience with HIL/SIL/ViL environments, ECU test benches, or automotive test rigs.
  • Programming and scripting skills, particularly Python, alongside Linux and shell scripting.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks,Git, and configuration management.
  • Good understanding of vehicle E/E architecture and communication (CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, and UDS diagnostics)
  • Familiarity with Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, dSPACE, and MATLAB/Simulink, pytest, or Robot Framework.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Swedish is a plus
  • Must hold a valid work permit in Sweden; Actrify will support extensions and renewals. Candidates without will be disregarded.

Meritorious

  • Experience with automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or automotive R&D environments. Experience from Volvo cars, Polestar and Volvo Trucks is meritorious
  • Experience with OTA updates, software flashing and vehicle software releases
  • Experience with issue tracking and support processes (e.g. Jira, tiered support)
