Do you want to help shape the future of sustainable biomass trading in Europe? Geminor Trading is looking for a Sustainability Specialist to become a key subject matter expert within biomass sustainability, certification, traceability, and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing international business and play a central role in enabling the company's ambitious biomass growth strategy across Europe. You will become the internal authority on biomass sustainability requirements, supporting commercial growth while ensuring compliance with increasingly complex European regulations and certification frameworks. Working closely with Commercial, QHSE, and R&D, you will help build the sustainability foundation that supports Geminor's future biomass business. About the Company Geminor Trading is a leading European resource management and biomass trading company operating across multiple countries and markets. Founded in Norway in 2004, Geminor has developed into a significant player within waste-to-energy recovery, resource management, and sustainable biomass solutions. As European markets accelerate the transition from coal-based energy production toward lower-carbon alternatives, biomass has become a rapidly growing strategic focus. Geminor is investing heavily in building and scaling its biomass activities, particularly across key European markets. The Opportunity This is a newly established strategic role created to support Geminor's growing biomass business and strengthen sustainability, certification, and regulatory capabilities across Europe. You will act as the bridge between sustainability requirements and commercial execution, ensuring that biomass trading activities are supported by robust certification processes, traceability systems, and regulatory compliance frameworks. Working closely with the Lead Business Developer Biomass, commercial stakeholders, QHSE specialists, and innovation teams, you will have significant influence on how Geminor develops and scales its biomass activities in the years ahead. Importantly, this is not a traditional ESG reporting role. It is a highly specialized position combining sustainability expertise, certification management, supply chain traceability, regulatory interpretation, and commercial stakeholder engagement. You will be in based in Copenhagen and report to the Chief HR & QHSE Officer. Responsibilities In this role, you will: Certification & Compliance

  • Own and maintain biomass-related certification schemes including SBP, FSC, PEFC and ISCC
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with RED II, RED III, EUDR and future regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain sustainability policies, processes, and compliance frameworks
  • Act as an internal advisor on sustainability-related matters

Traceability & Chain of Custody

  • Maintain and improve Chain of Custody processes across the biomass supply chain
  • Ensure full traceability and documentation of biomass feedstocks
  • Support suppliers and customers with certification and compliance requirements
  • Strengthen due diligence and supplier verification processes

Reporting & Governance

  • Manage mass balance systems and reporting
  • Support GHG calculations and sustainability reporting requirements
  • Develop governance structures and compliance documentation
  • Drive process improvements and reporting quality

Audits & Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare and coordinate internal and external audits
  • Act as a key contact for certification bodies and regulatory authorities
  • Facilitate supplier assessments and sustainability reviews
  • Represent Geminor in sustainability-related discussions and industry forums

Business Partnership

  • Support commercial teams on sustainability-related opportunities and risks
  • Translate evolving regulations into practical business guidance
  • Contribute to strategic biomass growth initiatives across Europe

Profile You are likely working today as a Sustainability Specialist, Sustainability Manager, Certification Manager, Compliance Manager, Biomass Sustainability Specialist, Sustainability Compliance Lead, or similar, and have experience from industries where certification, traceability, and sustainability compliance play a critical role. You enjoy navigating complex regulations, creating structure, and working closely with commercial stakeholders to find practical solutions. You are analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing compliance requirements with commercial realities. Desired Experience We hope you can tick most of the following boxes:

  • Experience working with biomass sustainability, renewable energy, forestry certification, or sustainability compliance
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of: SBP, FSC, PEFC, ISCC
  • Experience with Chain of Custody processes and traceability systems
  • Experience supporting certifications and audits
  • Knowledge of RED II, RED III and/or EUDR requirements
  • Experience working with sustainability documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of mass balance methodologies and GHG reporting
  • Strong Excel and data management capabilities
  • Fluent English communication skills

Ideally, You Also Bring

  • Experience from biomass trading environments
  • Forestry or forest certification experience
  • Renewable energy or bioenergy industry experience
  • Supplier due diligence experience
  • GIS or sustainability reporting systems experience
  • Experience working across multiple European markets
  • A Scandinavian language (Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish)
