Senior SQL Server DBA – Stockholm, Sweden (Hybrid) Contract: 12+ months | Start: Onboarding late November 2026, full start 1 January 2027 Work mode: Hybrid – 2 days per week at the Stockholm office We are hiring an experienced SQL Server DBA for a large enterprise client that runs a private cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation and offers databases to internal teams as a self-service platform, including high-availability setups across availability zones. What you will do • Design and maintain standard SQL Server builds and HA configurations, including Always On Availability Groups across availability zones and quorum/witness design • Work with platform engineers to turn these standards into automated, self-service database offerings • Patch, upgrade and maintain SQL Server instances and plan version upgrades • Own backup, restore and recovery testing against agreed recovery targets • Tune performance, monitor capacity and troubleshoot production issues • Apply security hardening, access control, TDE encryption and auditing; write runbooks and documentation Must-have • 5+ years as a production SQL Server DBA, including SQL Server 2019 or 2022 • Always On Availability Groups with WSFC in production, including quorum and witness design • SQL Server running on VMware vSphere • DBA automation with PowerShell (e.g. dbatools) • Active Swedish security clearance • Fluent English, written and spoken • Able to work from the Stockholm office twice a week Nice to have • MySQL administration (replication/HA) • Ansible or other configuration management • Provisioning through VMware Aria Automation / VCF Automation • Monitoring with Splunk, Grafana or Prometheus • Microsoft DP-300 certification Please note: this role is not suited to SQL/BI developers without production DBA experience or L1/L2 support profiles.
