Senior Software Engineer - Incubation

Job Requisition ID # 26WD101499 Location: Oslo, Norway Position Overview We are looking for a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to join a newly established Autodesk initiative within AEC building an AI-powered solution that helps teams in architecture, engineering, and construction work more efficiently. As the 5th member of a newly established team, you'll have a unique opportunity to build a product from the ground up, shape its technical architecture, and directly influence product direction and customer outcomes. Combining the agility and ownership of a startup with the resources and reach of Autodesk, this role offers significant individual impact and close collaboration with engineering, product, design, and customers. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Oslo, supporting an early-stage initiative with an initial 12-month development horizon and the potential for continued investment subject to the normal business planning and budget approval process. There is no predetermined end date for the role, and we're excited about the contributions this position can bring to the team. Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver AEC's full-stack product capabilities, transforming complex building regulations into actionable insights for architects
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and data models to process and manage regulatory information
• Build AI-powered workflows that leverage LLMs and agentic capabilities to interpret, retrieve, and reason over regulatory knowledge
• Establish robust evaluation and validation approaches to ensure the accuracy, reliability, traceability, and explainability of AI-powered solutions
• Develop intuitive web application features that integrate regulatory intelligence into architects’ design workflows
• Shape technical architecture and engineering practices, making pragmatic decisions that balance speed, scalability, security, and maintainability
• Take end-to-end ownership of features and services, from design and implementation to deployment and production operations
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and customers to validate ideas, prioritize opportunities, and deliver meaningful product outcomes
• Contribute to a small, autonomous team through technical leadership, knowledge sharing, and a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong professional experience in full-stack software engineering, with depth in backend development, distributed systems, and production-grade applications
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with experience developing APIs and contributing across backend and frontend technologies
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including serverless technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions), infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD, and production observability
• Practical experience developing AI-powered applications using LLMs, including data retrieval, structured outputs, and evaluation techniques
• Experience working with complex or unstructured data, including data processing, modelling, and transformation
• Solid understanding of software architecture, automated testing, security, performance, and production reliability
• Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems, make sound engineering decisions, and deliver solutions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working effectively across engineering, product, and design disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building products from the ground up in startups, scale-ups, or early-stage product environments
• Strong frontend development experience with React, Preact, Vite, or similar technologies
• Experience developing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, including embeddings, retrieval strategies, and retrieval quality evaluation
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI agent for orchestration, or similar integration approaches
• Experience with knowledge of graphs, ontologies, RDF, JSON-LD, SPARQL, or graph-based data modelling
• Experience with 3D visualization, computational geometry, spatial algorithms, or CAD/BIM data models
• Familiarity with Autodesk Platform Services, Revit, IFC, or other AEC technologies
• Domain knowledge of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), building regulations, or other regulated industries requiring high levels of accuracy and traceability
• An entrepreneurial mindset, strong customer orientation, and motivation to influence both technical direction and product development
