Senior Software Architect

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Architect / IT Solution Architect to drive end-to-end technical solutions across Volvo’s embedded software processes, platforms, and systems. As Volvo accelerates its digital transformation from legacy, application-centric models toward modular microservices and modern cloud infrastructure, you will play a central role in shaping the target architecture at the Solution Center. This is a hands-on architectural role: alongside high-level solution design, you will actively contribute to coding and hands-on solution development a percentage of the time while collaborating across engineering, production, and aftermarket divisions. Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Strategy & Design:
• Define end-to-end technical architectures that align with enterprise standards and accommodate embedded systems constraints.
• Lead the transition from application-centric architectures to scalable, cloud-based microservices.
• Contribute directly to technical implementation and hands-on coding as required by the delivery cadence.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Partner with delivery leads, solution architects, project managers, BAs, and technical leads across the Solution Center.
• Interface directly with key stakeholders across automotive technology, manufacturing/production, and aftermarket ecosystems.
• Process & Security Governance:
• Drive DevSecOps adoption, ensuring robust cyber security mechanisms and secure coding standards are embedded across solutions.
• Define, document, and implement software engineering and architecture processes.
• Foster best practices within Agile delivery pods (Scrum/Kanban).

Key Requirements & Technical Profile

• Architecture & Hands-on Background: Proven track record as a Solution Architect, System Architect, or Senior Technical Lead, combining architectural vision with practical software development capability.
• Embedded Domain Exposure: Hands-on understanding of embedded software environments, automotive processes, or hardware-software interface constraints.
• Cloud & Microservices: Practical design and implementation experience with microservices architecture, modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and containerized environments.
• DevSecOps & Cyber Security: Active engagement with application security, DevSecOps pipelines, and secure architectural design.
• Agile & Process Definition: Strong experience in process mapping, architecture documentation, and delivery within Agile/Scrum frameworks.
• Communication & Collaboration: Professional, fluent English communication skills; comfortable presenting technical trade-offs to both senior leadership and engineering teams.
