Freelance Senior SAP SD / Order-to-Cash Solution Architect Role Overview We are looking for a Senior SAP SD / Order-to-Cash Solution Architect to support a global Life Sciences organization in governing and optimizing its SAP Order-to-Cash landscape. The consultant will take ownership of the end-to-end SAP SD and Order-to-Cash domain, ensuring stable, scalable, and compliant solutions across multiple countries and business entities. The role combines solution architecture, process governance, business partnering, and hands-on SAP expertise, while supporting ongoing transformation initiatives and S/4HANA readiness activities. Key Responsibilities

• Own and govern the SAP SD and Order-to-Cash solution landscape, including order management, pricing, deliveries, shipping, billing, returns, and credit management.
• Provide architectural guidance for incident resolution, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Design and maintain scalable global SAP solutions aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
• Lead solution design activities across sales operations, customer service, logistics, and finance functions.
• Drive SAP integration activities involving third-party logistics providers (3PLs), middleware platforms, EDI, APIs, and IDocs.
• Support the design and implementation of e-invoicing and tax compliance solutions across multiple markets.
• Ensure proper integration between SAP SD, Finance (FI/AR), tax engines, and external invoicing platforms.
• Contribute to ECC-to-S/4HANA transformation activities, including fit-gap analysis, process blueprinting, interface assessments, and solution design.
• Review solution documentation, testing approaches, and deployment readiness activities.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, vendors, implementation partners, and support teams.
• Drive process standardization and simplification across a complex global Order-to-Cash landscape.
• Support governance activities ensuring solutions remain compliant, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Required Experience

• 10+ years of SAP experience with strong expertise in SAP SD and end-to-end Order-to-Cash processes.
• Extensive experience covering sales orders, pricing, deliveries, shipping, billing, returns, and credit management.
• Strong knowledge of SAP pricing procedures, condition technique, billing configuration, and FI integration.
• Experience with Accounts Receivable, tax determination, revenue posting, and financial integration.
• Proven experience designing integrations using EDI, APIs, IDocs, and middleware technologies.
• Experience integrating SAP with third-party logistics providers and external business platforms.
• Strong understanding of solution architecture, governance, and global template management.
• Experience supporting or leading SAP transformation and S/4HANA readiness initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Experience with global e-invoicing solutions and electronic invoice frameworks such as Peppol.
• Knowledge of tax authority integrations, invoice validation, archiving, and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting multinational SAP environments across multiple countries and legal entities.
• Familiarity with GxP, GDP, CSV, validation processes, and regulated change management.
• Experience working with external implementation partners and managed service providers.
• Prior involvement in SAP ECC-to-S/4HANA migration or transformation programmes.
• Experience driving business process harmonization and global process standardization initiatives.
