We are looking for a Senior Process Specialist – Additive Manufacturing Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) As a Senior Process Specialist within Additive Manufacturing, you will play a key role in developing, qualifying, and industrializing Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) processes for metallic materials and applications. The primary focus of the role is to bridge technology development with product and manufacturing implementation, ensuring robust, scalable and cost-effective additive manufacturing solutions that support SKF’s growth ambitions. You will act as a technical expert in additive manufacturing, driving process qualification, manufacturing readiness, product introduction and continuous process improvement. In your daily work you will work closely with product development, manufacturing, quality and researchers to support additive manufacturing in large. Your Day-to-day work/ Key Responsibilities

  • Manage process development activities related to the L-PBF process with a clear focus on process qualification in close collaboration with product development.
  • Develop and implement methodologies for process verification and quality assurance, e.g. by utilizing advanced process monitoring and quality assurance software for in-process control and defect detection.
  • Contribute to the advancement of additive manufacturing capabilities and technologies within SKF. Specific focus will be on running Proof-of-Concept activities with related prototype development.
  • Stay up to date on technical development and know-how with respect to additive manufacturing, and to make sure this knowledge is spread within the organization.

We expect you to have/be

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or similar with minimum 5 years of hands-on industrial experience with L-PBF technology and metal additive manufacturing. PhD in Additive Manufacturing and Materials Science, or related field, will be considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in taking additive manufacturing processes and applications from development into industrial implementation, including process qualification, production readiness, and cross-functional product realization activities.
  • In-depth practical experience and a deep understanding of the L-PBF machine and related operation, calibration, troubleshooting, and process development, where optimization for medium- and high carbon steels will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience from process monitoring and quality assurance software used in additive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in CAD and design tools relevant to additive manufacturing, where experience in Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) will be considered an advantage.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
