Senior PostgreSQL & Oracle DBA – Stockholm, Sweden (Hybrid) Contract: 12+ months | Start: Onboarding late November 2026, full start 1 January 2027 Work mode: Hybrid – 2 days per week at the Stockholm office We are hiring an experienced DBA covering both PostgreSQL and Oracle for a large enterprise client that runs a private cloud on VMware Cloud Foundation and offers databases to internal teams as a self-service platform, including high-availability setups across availability zones. What you will do • Design and maintain standard PostgreSQL and Oracle builds and HA configurations, including PostgreSQL streaming replication with automatic failover and Oracle Data Guard • Work with platform engineers to turn these standards into automated, self-service database offerings • Patch, upgrade and maintain database instances and plan version upgrades • Own backup, restore and recovery testing (pgBackRest, Barman, RMAN) • Tune performance, monitor capacity and troubleshoot production issues • Apply security hardening and access control; write runbooks and documentation Must-have • 5+ years as a production DBA on BOTH PostgreSQL (14+) and Oracle (19c+) • PostgreSQL HA: streaming replication with automated failover (Patroni or repmgr) and PgBouncer • Oracle Data Guard and RMAN in production • Linux (RHEL) administration and scripting in Bash or Python • Databases running on VMware vSphere • Active Swedish security clearance • Fluent English, written and spoken • Able to work from the Stockholm office twice a week Nice to have • Oracle RAC and understanding of Oracle licensing on VMware • MySQL administration • Ansible for database automation • Kubernetes operators for PostgreSQL (CloudNativePG) or pgvector • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) Please note: this role is not suited to Oracle E-Business Suite apps DBAs without core database HA experience, or database developers without production DBA experience.
