What you'll do

Quote You join a team building the data platform every data engineer and quant at Danske Commodities works on - early enough to shape its architecture, with a mandate to challenge how we do things today. Here’s what the job entails In the role, your primary function will be to design, build and run critical parts of our internal data platform. Alongside hands-on delivery, you will influence the team's design decisions, challenge existing approaches, set the bar for engineering quality and mentor colleagues. As the platform is being modernized now, your work will have broad influence on its development and direct impact on our trading activities. More specifically, your responsibilities include: - designing and building core platform capabilities across cloud data infrastructure, .NET and streaming platforms that enable data to move through the business, or across our machine-learning platform and feature store - making the platform reliable and observable on performance, capacity, cost, monitoring and incident follow-up - reviewing and challenging architecture and design decisions, bringing in practices from outside Danske Commodities - mentoring engineers in the team and helping newer colleagues get productive quickly - building self-service 'golden paths' so other teams can build on the platform without waiting for us Meet your team You will join our Data Platform Infrastructure team, where we build and run the shared platform capabilities that Danske Commodities builds on. Our primary responsibilities include compute platforms, streaming infrastructure, the data ingestion framework, machine learning infrastructure and hosted data tooling. We make it fast and safe for other teams to build with data by providing the platform capabilities they rely on. We are a newly formed team of four experienced engineers, growing to nine team members. Our backgrounds are currently within software engineering, cloud infrastructure and data-science platforms. We work with Python, C#/.NET and Rust, test-driven and with a strong focus on automation. We always seek to build things our users want to use, not just things they have to use. But enough about us… over to you! As you will be influencing the direction of our data platform and the way we build software, we imagine that you are solution-oriented and see opportunities where others see problems. You enjoy taking ownership, driving improvement and constructively challenging existing approaches when needed. At the same time, you are motivated by helping others succeed and sharing your knowledge with fellow engineers. Furthermore, we imagine that you: - hold a relevant educational background within computer science, software engineering or similar – or equivalent practical experience - have a minimum of 8 years’ experience as a software engineer building and operation production systems - are proficient in C#/.NET and Python - have deep hands-on experience with cloud, containers, infrastructure as code and CI/CD (e.g. Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions) - are proficient in English - both written and spoken Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role. We’ll take good care of you At Danske Commodities, we take great care of our people. Joining us means you’ll get a lot of great perks – including social events, cultural experiences, tasty food and benefits to better your health, your life and your future.
