Swedium Global is having presence in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic and in India.Senior Platform Engineer – Azure APIM & Backstage Description You will play a central role in the continued development of an Integration Hub based on Azure API Management (APIM) and Backstage, with the goal of evolving the platform into a modern internal developer platform. This assignment is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in API management, developer portals, cloud infrastructure, and automation, who enjoys combining hands-on development with technical ownership. About the Assignment As a Platform Engineer, you will play an important role in making APIs easier for developers across the organization to discover, understand, and consume. Azure API Management Configure and maintain Azure API Management. Manage API onboarding, backend integrations, routing, and gateway policies. Implement authentication, authorization, and traffic management. Establish practices for monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting of API traffic and platform health. Developer Portal & API Catalog Develop and customize Backstage as the primary entry point for the Integration Hub. Improve usability, navigation, and branding of the developer portal. Manage API documentation, ownership information, and catalog metadata. Integrate APIs into the existing catalog and ensure consistency across systems. Develop or extend Backstage plugins and integrations where needed. API Quality & Automation Implement automated validation and linting of API specifications. Define and enforce API quality standards and documentation requirements. Integrate validation controls into CI/CD pipelines. Automate deployment and configuration management using Infrastructure-as-Code. Platform Ownership Produce technical documentation and onboarding materials. Troubleshoot issues across gateway, portal, catalog, application, and cloud infrastructure layers. Gather developer feedback and drive continuous improvements to the platform. Contribute to technical decision-making and platform roadmap activities. We Are Looking for Someone Who Has: Strong hands-on experience with Azure API Management or an equivalent API management platform. Experience developing or extending Backstage or a similar Internal Developer Portal. Solid understanding of REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and API lifecycle management. Strong development skills in TypeScript/JavaScript, including Node.js and React. Experience with API security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT. Experience with Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, and automation. Experience with or good knowledge of Terraform, Bicep, or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools. Ability to troubleshoot across application, integration, infrastructure, and cloud environments. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently and take technical ownership within the area. Nice to Have Experience developing Backstage plugins and integrations with API catalogs. Experience with API linting tools such as Spectral. Experience with Azure Identity, Networking, and Observability services. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
