Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor – Data Centre Project, Sweden If you’re a Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor looking to build serious experience on large-scale European projects, this is a strong opportunity to do it. Kirby Group Engineering is looking for a Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering a major data centre project in Sweden. You’ll take commercial responsibility for significant mechanical packages, working closely with the project team from valuations and variations through subcontractor management, commercial reporting and final account. It’s a hands-on senior commercial role with real responsibility on a major European project. Who are Kirby Group Engineering? The business operates in technically demanding sectors including data centres, life sciences, industrial and advanced manufacturing. What You’ll Be Doing Reporting into the project commercial leadership team, you’ll take responsibility for the commercial management of mechanical packages. Your Role Will Include

  • Managing budgets, forecasts, BOQs and project profit plans
  • Managing subcontractor accounts from procurement and interim valuations through to final account
  • Preparing accurate monthly applications, including remeasurement, variations, dayworks and contractual claims
  • Managing payment certificates, subcontractor payments and retentions
  • Identifying, costing and agreeing changes to mechanical works
  • Managing subcontractor remeasurement, site dayworks and change orders
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and raising them early
  • Monitoring material and labour escalation where applicable
  • Leading commercial discussions with the client, subcontractors and internal project team
  • Providing clear and accurate commercial reporting to project leadership
  • Working closely with Planning and Engineering to ensure progress reporting accurately reflects works completed
  • Maintaining the records and commercial backup needed to support valuations, changes and claims
  • Negotiating with clients, subcontractors and their representatives
  • Driving your packages through to agreement of final accounts

What We’re Looking For This is a senior appointment, so we’re looking for someone who understands the detail but is also comfortable taking ownership of their packages. Ideally, You’ll Have

  • Strong experience as a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, M&E Quantity Surveyor or similar
  • Experience commercially managing significant mechanical packages
  • Good knowledge of subcontractor management, valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Experience with BOQs, remeasurement, dayworks and change control
  • A practical understanding of construction programmes and their commercial implications
  • Strong numerical, contractual and commercial skills
  • The confidence to deal directly with clients and subcontractors
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • The ability to identify commercial risk and opportunity before it becomes a problem
  • The ability to work independently and prioritise in a fast-moving project environment

Candidates from pharmaceutical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, industrial and other major engineering environments could have highly transferable experience. Why consider it?
