Senior Frontend Developer

Due to continued growth and significant investment in product development, they are looking to add a Lead Front End Developer to their Center of Excellence in Oslo. This position is ideal for an experienced frontend engineer who enjoys building complex software products, architecting scalable applications, and solving challenging technical problems involving data visualisation, analytics, and interactive user experiences. The Role You will take technical ownership of the frontend architecture across a strategic software platform currently undergoing significant evolution and product consolidation. Working closely with product managers, domain experts, backend engineers, and fellow developers, you will help shape the future direction of the application while remaining hands-on with development. The platform combines large datasets, analytical workflows, persistent user state, and advanced visualisation capabilities into a single engineering workspace. As a technical leader, you will drive architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and ensure the long-term scalability, maintainability, and performance of the frontend ecosystem. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the frontend architecture and technical direction of a complex cloud-based software platform
• Designing and developing scalable applications using React and TypeScript
• Driving the continued evolution and integration of multiple product capabilities into a unified user experience
• Building interactive and intuitive interfaces for highly technical users working with large and complex datasets
• Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and domain specialists to translate requirements into software solutions
• Establishing frontend engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines
• Optimising browser performance, rendering efficiency, memory usage, and application responsiveness
• Supporting API design discussions and integration with distributed backend services
• Mentoring developers and helping raise engineering quality across the wider team
• Contributing to frontend testing, observability, debugging, and production support activities

Requirements: We're interested in professionals who can demonstrate several of the following:

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Advanced expertise in React and TypeScript
• Previous experience leading frontend architecture for large-scale production applications
• Experience building complex analytics, simulation, scientific, engineering, or other data-intensive software platforms
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, application design patterns, and scalability principles
• Experience with state management solutions such as Zustand, TanStack Query, Redux, or similar technologies
• Strong understanding of asynchronous data handling and distributed system integrations
• Experience optimising performance for applications handling large datasets and high volumes of user interaction
• Strong testing, debugging, observability, and troubleshooting practices
• Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions and effectively communicate technical trade-offs
• Experience working within Agile software development environments
• Knowledge of modern software engineering principles and cloud-native application development
• Experience with technical visualisation technologies such as D3.js, Plotly, Three.js, WebGL, Canvas, or similar is highly advantageous
• Exposure to scientific computing, engineering software, CAD, GIS, analytics, or related domains would be beneficial
