About the Role
The Senior Engagement Strategist plays a vital role in developing and executing impactful engagement strategies for clients in the healthcare and life science industries, specifically within the context of promotional healthcare communications.
This role requires a deep understanding of audience dynamics within the healthcare space, exceptional communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a strong grasp of scientific and strategic principles. In this position, you will craft compelling narratives, design engaging experiences, and develop content rooted in scientific understanding, product attributes, and data analysis to drive meaningful behavior change.
Key Responsibilities
- Scientific Interpretation & Content Creation
- Medical understanding & clinical analysis: Demonstrate a strong foundational knowledge of medical science. Read, analyze, and interpret complex clinical studies, data, and product attributes to inform strategic direction.
- Multi-platform content development: Write and develop creative, highly engaging content across various channels — including digital, print, and experiential — tailored to specific healthcare audience segments.
- Promotional science: Translate scientific data into compelling promotional healthcare communications, ensuring scientific accuracy aligns seamlessly with brand strategy.
- Audience Insights & Engagement Strategy
- Audience understanding: Apply a deep understanding of target healthcare audiences — including healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and payors — and their clinical needs, motivations, pain points, and preferred communication channels.
- Needs assessments: Conduct qualitative and quantitative user and audience needs assessments to uncover behavioral drivers and inform engagement frameworks.
- Omnichannel strategy: Design end-to-end engagement journeys that deliver the right message through the right channel at the right moment.
- Client Advisory & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Trusted advisor: Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with client teams across Marketing, Medical, Legal, and Regulatory, serving as a trusted advisor on engagement best practice and strategy.
- Cross-functional integration: Work closely with internal teams across Creative, Account Management, Medical, and Legal to ensure seamless integration of engagement strategies across all project activities.
- Creative guidance: Brief and mentor creative teams, ensuring they understand the strategic framework, scientific narrative, and regulatory constraints before execution.
Role Requirements
- Medical & scientific aptitude: Proven ability to read, interpret, and extract insights from clinical studies, trial data, and medical literature.
- Advanced writing & storytelling: Superior writing skills with the ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, compelling, and compliant promotional content.
- Healthcare audience expertise: Proven experience mapping audience journeys and executing audience needs assessments within the healthcare ecosystem.
- Regulatory acumen: Solid understanding of regulatory landscapes — such as FDA/OPDP, PAAB, or regional equivalents — governing promotional medical communications.
- Strategic collaboration: Demonstrated success facilitating alignment between internal creative and medical teams and client marketing, medical, and legal review committees.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Industry experience: Proven track record of developing and executing successful engagement strategies within a healthcare communications, medical education, or pharmaceutical advertising agency setting.
- Domain knowledge: Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, commercialization pathways, and promotional medical communication strategies.
- Communication skills: Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and storytelling skills; comfortable presenting strategic concepts to senior client stakeholders.
- Problem-solving mindset: Proactive problem-solver with a positive, adaptable, and collaborative attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Cross-functional navigation: Experience collaborating directly with multi-disciplinary client teams across Brand Marketing, Medical Affairs, Legal, and Regulatory.
- Language proficiency: Native English speaker, or native-level fluency, strongly preferred due to the nuanced nature of promotional writing and strategic narrative development.
What We Offer
- Career growth: A strong opportunity to build a high-impact career in contemporary advertising, digital, and healthcare communications at a leading international agency.
- Global expertise: Direct access to a global network of specialists in healthcare communication, creative, design, UX, strategy, medical communications, and behavioral science.
