Senior Electrical Engineer

NES Fircroft are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer for our client, who are developing a first-of-its-kind nuclear power plant. Electrical Engineer - Plant Engineering Senior / Lead Level 6-Month Interim Assignment Stockholm You will work embedded in the Plant Engineering function of one of our clients, a company developing a first-of-a-kind nuclear power plant. You will own electrical engineering for assigned plant areas, systems or work packages, and make sure power distribution, switchgear, motor control, low-voltage and auxiliary systems, lighting, grounding and lightning protection, cable management and electrical interfaces support safe, constructable, maintainable and efficient plant delivery. You turn requirements into practical engineering solutions, coordinate interfaces with other disciplines and suppliers, and make sure deliverables are complete, consistent and issued on time – through design, procurement support, construction support and handover to commissioning and operations. You will also help shape a plant-as-a-product mindset through standardisation, modular design, DfMA and design choices that improve fabrication, assembly, construction and commissioning. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Engineering Delivery

• Lead electrical engineering activities across allocated plant systems and work packages, covering MV/LV power distribution, transformers, switchgear, motor control systems, UPS, batteries, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and cable management.
• Develop and maintain electrical design documentation, specifications, equipment data sheets, protection philosophies, and engineering deliverables.
• Perform and review power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, motor starting, and harmonics analysis.
• Ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, constructability expectations, and operational needs.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Act as the electrical engineering focal point across multidisciplinary teams, coordinating interfaces with mechanical, civil, structural, HVAC, I&C, operations, suppliers, and contractors.
• Support design reviews, 3D model reviews, constructability assessments, risk reviews, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage technical inputs to procurement activities, supplier reviews, bid evaluations, and change management processes.

Project & Team Support

• Provide reliable input to project planning, estimates, schedules, resource forecasting, and risk management activities.
• Identify technical risks and implement practical mitigation measures.
• Mentor engineers and designers, contribute to engineering standards and best practices, and support the development of scalable engineering capability within the organisation.

Candidate Profile Essential Experience

• Significant experience delivering electrical engineering for major industrial, energy, nuclear, power generation, process plant, or EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV power systems, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, and electrical distribution infrastructure.
• Experience undertaking and reviewing power system studies using tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering activities and manage complex technical interfaces.

Technical Knowledge

• Working knowledge of relevant IEC standards, including IEC 60364, IEC 61439, IEC 62271, IEC 60079 and IEC 61850, or equivalent international standards.
• Experience using engineering tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP and Plant 3D.
