Senior Data Engineer – Helsingborg, Sweden

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join an exciting data transformation initiative in Helsingborg, Sweden. In this role, you will work closely with a small, collaborative team to design, develop, and maintain reliable data pipelines, ensuring data is efficiently collected, transformed, and delivered with high quality. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ETL/ELT development, Microsoft SQL databases, data modeling, and legacy system analysis. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across data warehouses and data lakes.
• Build and implement data transformations and data contracts.
• Analyze legacy systems to identify data sources, business rules, and transformation logic.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, data models, and database performance.
• Monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot incidents, and implement error-handling solutions.
• Maintain version control, testing processes, and technical documentation.
• Document data definitions, metadata, lineage, and transformation logic.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure reliable and scalable data delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in ETL/ELT development, data warehouses, and data lakes.
• Advanced SQL skills, particularly with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, database performance, and optimization.
• Experience analyzing legacy applications and identifying embedded business logic.
• Knowledge of version control, testing, and technical documentation.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Senior-level expertise, typically gained through 9–12 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or similar modern data platforms.
• Programming experience in Python and C#.
• Experience in data integration, automation, and data quality monitoring.
• Previous experience working on large-scale data engineering projects.

Additional Requirements

• A CV in Swedish is mandatory for evaluating technical competencies and experience.
• Candidates must demonstrate strong independence, problem-solving abilities, and senior-level technical expertise.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a small engineering team.
