Senior AI Python Engineer

AI Platform Engineer, Energy Sector We're building the AI foundations for an entire engineering organisation. You'll create the shared tooling, frameworks and infrastructure that let every dev team ship AI solutions quickly, safely and at scale. The role Own Engineering for AI: the SDKs, orchestration layers and platform services that turn GenAI from one-off projects into a company-wide capability. You'll stay hands-on, building production LLM applications and setting the technical standard as you go. What you'll do

• Build reusable frameworks, SDKs and developer tooling used across the organisation
• Ship Python-based AI applications using modern LLMs
• Develop core platform features: prompt management, model routing, evaluation, observability and guardrails
• Create scalable patterns for RAG, agents and workflow automation
• Build APIs and services that make AI adoption easy for other teams
• Work with data, platform and engineering teams to embed AI into the wider data platform

You have

• 5-7 years of commercial Python Software Engineering experience
• Hands-on experience building GenAI applications with LLMs
• Practical use of LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or similar
• Solid grasp of RAG, embeddings, vector search, agents and prompt engineering
• Experience building APIs and cloud-native services
• Comfort with Docker, Git and CI/CD
• Exposure to developer platforms or shared engineering tooling
• Strong communication across engineering teams

Nice to have

• Enterprise AI platform or developer enablement experience
• FastAPI, vector databases, AWS/Azure/GCP
• Kubernetes, IaC or MLOps tooling
• AI governance and responsible AI knowledge
