Responsibilities

  • Provide the central coordination point for SDC planning, priorities, execution, control and escalation across the engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure the team understands the agreed SDC Scope of Services, responsibility boundaries, available budget hours, and the basis for recording hours/ activities.
  • Ensure vendor and contractor RFIs and submittals are routed to the correct discipline, answered comprehensively, recorded and returned within the agreed timelines.
  • Review contractor design where included within SDC or Design Completion, and Final Integration services.
  • Coordinate technical clarifications, site meetings, site inspections, installation reviews, first-of-kind reviews, test witnessing, and other contracted engineering support.
  • Interface between the office-based design team and the site construction teams.
  • Maintain auditable records of responses and decisions, coordinate critical red-line mark-ups where included in scope.
  • Prioritise issues that could affect construction progress, escalate significant design or interface matters promptly, and challenge RFIs that duplicate information already available in the IFC documentation.
  • Maintain visibility of work queues, ageing, turnaround times, open and closed status, discipline workload, resource usage and key risks, with regular reporting to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, with sufficient technical strength and experience to deal effectively with contractors and site issues.
  • Good knowledge of the project design basis, IFC design packages, discipline interfaces and the agreed Scope of Services.
  • Experience of engineering or design management during the EP/DD stage is preferred to support continuity into construction.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multi-discipline resources and prioritise competing construction demands.
  • Strong communication, record-keeping, decision coordination, and escalation skills.
  • Commercial awareness, including management of budget hours.
