What you'll do

Scientist R&D Scientist for Laboratory-Scale Preparative HPLC Impurity Isolation Join Xellia Pharmaceuticals and help develop life-saving antibiotics. We are looking for a Scientist or Senior Scientist to join our Analytical Development Laboratory in Copenhagen. In this role, you will lead the isolation, purification, and characterization of impurities from antibiotic production processes, supporting the development and registration of existing and new pharmaceutical products. You will become part of an international Analytical Development team of 11 skilled colleagues based in Copenhagen and Oslo. The department develops and validates analytical methods and applies techniques such as HPLC/UHPLC, LC-MS/MS, 2D-LC-MS, GC-FID, TGA/DSC, and Preparative HPLC. Your responsibilities

  • Isolate, purify, and characterize fermentation- and degradation-related impurities from APIs and finished products
  • Develop and optimize laboratory-scale purification processes using Preparative HPLC
  • Investigate impurity formation mechanisms and support problem-solving activities
  • Analyze, evaluate, and document results in accordance with GLP/GMP requirements
  • Certify impurity Reference Standards according to pharmacopeial guidelines
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Production, QC, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs
  • Support inspections, product registrations, and technical investigations

Your profile

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with Preparative HPLC is essential; peptide purification experience is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of organic chemistry, molecular interactions, and reaction mechanisms
  • Experience with NMR, LC-MS/MS, and structure elucidation is an advantage
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP, method validation, and pharmacopeial requirements is beneficial
  • Able to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
