What you'll do

Are you energized by cuttingedge physics, research & development of realworld hardware, and solving complex problems that matter? Do you enjoy working close to products, product development and seeing scientific insight turn into something tangible? Join us in enabling breakthrough science alongside curious, highly skilled colleagues.

At Bluefors, we design and manufacture the worlds most advanced cryogenic cooling systems, enabling leading research and emerging technologies such as quantum computing. To strengthen our research and innovation activities in cooling technologies, Cooling Team within Offering Development is now looking for a Scientist with strong physical insight and a clear focus on realworld products.

In this role, you will work closely on hardware and system development, contributing scientific expertise directly to the design, validation, and optimization of cryogenic cooling systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, system experts, and project teams, translating physical understanding into practical, robust, and scalable solutions. Your work will support systemlevel decisionmaking and help ensure Bluefors cooling solutions meet the demanding requirements of advanced scientific and industrial applications. You will engage in international collaboration with Bluefors teams and external partners, contributing to joint development.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of scientific research and commercial product development, turning scientific insight and new ideas into practical solutions that can be developed into mature, scalable products in an industrial environment.

We are looking for an expert who enjoys combining theory with practice, is curious about how systems behave in the real world and takes pride in building solutions that work reliably outside the lab. You will operate in a multidisciplinary environment where scientific thinking, engineering execution, and collaboration go hand in hand.

Why join us?

We offer you an interesting, challenging, and responsible position, supported by a highly skilled and growing organization. This is an excellent opportunity for your own professional growth in a dynamic, enthusiastic, and professional team where we work together and support each other. We offer a multicultural working environment with room to grow, where you can fully use your potential and continuously develop your skills.

For a Cryogenic Engineer or physicist this role offers a unique opportunity to work between research and real-world applications, exploring complex physical phenomena while also contributing to how scientific insights can evolve into new technologies and products.

Main responsibilities:

  • Apply physicsbased understanding to the development and optimization of cryogenic cooling systems
  • Analyze and model thermal, mechanical, and physical phenomena in cryogenic environments
  • Participate in concept development, validation activities, and structured problemsolving
  • Drive scientific concepts and findings towards practical product applications, supporting their development from early ideas into mature and scalable solutions
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, system experts, and project teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of cooling performance, robustness, and reliability
  • Document and communicate scientific findings clearly to diverse technical and nontechnical stakeholders

What we expect from you:

  • MSc or PhD in Cryogenic Engineering, physics or a closely related field
  • Strong understanding of physics relevant to cryogenic or lowtemperature systems
  • Ability to translate theoretical insight into practical engineering relevance
  • Interest in the commercial application of science and motivation to turn scientific insight into products and solutions that create customer and business value
  • Analytical and structured way of working
  • Curiosity, critical thinking, and a solutionoriented mindset
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a multistakeholder environment
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

We also appreciate:

  • Experience with cryogenics, lowtemperature physics
  • Experience working close to hardware or experimental systems
  • Experience of Mechanical Engineering (CAD software)
  • Experience of software tools related to measurements and data analyses (Python)
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary product development environments
  • A positive, handson attitude with strong problemsolving skills
  • Curiosity and passion for highend technology
