The role
We're looking for an in-house Resource Geologist to lead our main Mineral Resource campaign at Sulitjelma, from data validation through geological modelling to a reportable resource estimate. You'll work closely with the engineering, environmental and exploration teams and with external consultants. You'll also support the wider growth pipeline, contributing to target generation, early-stage evaluation and exploration campaign planning.
Key responsibilities
Resource campaign (primary focus)
- Own the Mineral Resource estimation workflow for Sulitjelma, from data compilation through to reporting.
- Compile, validate and QA/QC historic and modern drilling, underground channel sampling and mine records, including assay, density and survey data.
- Build and maintain 3D geological, structural and mineralisation domain models in a complex, deformed and metamorphosed VMS setting.
- Model historic underground workings and voids, and apply depletion accurately.
- Carry out exploratory data analysis.
- Classify resources and prepare supporting documentation to CRIRSCO-aligned standards (e.g. JORC, NI 43-101 or PERC).
- Work with external Competent/Qualified Persons and independent reviewers.
- Define and manage infill and verification drilling and sampling programmes to upgrade resource confidence.
- Provide resource models and inputs to mining engineering, metallurgy and economic studies.
Growth pipeline and exploration
- Evaluate brownfield and greenfield targets across the portfolio.
- Help plan, execute and supervise exploration campaigns, including drilling, logging, sampling, QA/QC and contractor management.
- Integrate geophysical, geochemical and structural datasets for targeting.
- Maintain the geological database and GIS datasets.
General
- Uphold high standards of health, safety and environmental practice, including underground.
- Contribute to permitting, reporting and stakeholder materials where geological input is needed.
About you
Essential
- Degree in geology or a related geoscience discipline (postgraduate qualification an advantage).
- 5+ years' experience in resource geology, with hands-on Mineral Resource estimation.
- Strong 3D implicit and explicit modelling skills.
- Solid geostatistics and data analysis skills.
- Sound understanding of QA/QC and international reporting codes.
- Ability to work independently in a small team and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Willingness to spend regular time on site in Sulitjelma, including underground.
Desirable
- Experience with VMS or other polymetallic base-metal deposits, particularly copper.
- Brownfield resource experience: legacy data recovery and validation, historic workings, void modelling and reconciliation.
- Experience in structurally complex, deformed or metamorphosed terranes (e.g. Caledonian, Fennoscandian or similar).
- Experience planning and running exploration drilling campaigns, both surface and underground.
- Eligibility to act as, or progress towards, Competent Person / Qualified Person status (e.g. EurGeol, AusIMM, AIG, P.Geo).
- GIS proficiency (e.g. QGIS).
- Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
- Driving licence.
What we offer
- The chance to own a flagship resource estimate on a revitalised historic copper district.
- Broad exposure across resources, exploration and project development in a growing company.
