As part of our Microbial Screening team, you will work at the forefront of ultra-high-throughput screening, exploring vast biological libraries and transforming scientific curiosity into real-world impact. Together with a dedicated team of scientists and technicians, you will help uncover promising microbial candidates and advance the technologies that bring the next generation of biosolutions to life. The role & your impact As a Research Scientist, you will play a key role in developing and applying advanced ultra-high-throughput screening technologies to discover and evaluate biological candidates. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on scientific role where innovation, experimentation, and cross-functional teamwork are essential to success. Your work will directly contribute to advancing Novonesis' microbial discovery capabilities and support the development of future biosolutions. Your key responsibilities in this role - Support the development of new biological solutions by leveraging advanced microfluidic screening technologies. - Drive innovation by continuously developing and improving our ultra-high-throughput screening platform. - Explore and establish new screening applications across microbial discovery programs. - Design, optimize, and execute high-throughput screening assays. - Analyze and interpret experimental data to guide scientific decisions and candidate selection. - Collaborate across functions and disciplines, contributing to a culture of openness, knowledge sharing, and scientific excellence. What you'll need to be successful in this role - PhD in Biotechnology or a related scientific discipline such as Bioengineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a similar field. - Proven experience developing and optimizing assays for high-throughput screening. - Strong scientific problem-solving skills and a passion for experimental laboratory work. - Ability to independently drive projects while collaborating effectively in multidisciplinary teams. - Curiosity about emerging technologies and a commitment to continuous learning. - Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships across functions. Additional skills & interests we value While it is not essential for success in the role, we would be excited to hear from candidates who have experience in one or more of the following areas. You may have a strong understanding of droplet microfluidics, including chip operation and adapting designs to meet specific assay requirements, or experience generating large biological libraries through random mutagenesis or other diversity-generating approaches. We also value experience in programming and data analysis using tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, or similar platforms, particularly when applied to the interpretation of large and complex biological datasets. An interest in emerging screening technologies and the continued development of innovative screening platforms would be highly beneficial, as we are constantly exploring new ways to advance microbial discovery and accelerate the development of future biosolutions. Working conditions - Primary work location: Lyngby, Denmark. - This position is laboratory-based with close interaction between research, technology, and platform teams. - Limited travel may be required depending on project and collaboration needs. - Flexible working arrangements are offered where business needs allows it and in accordance with Novonesis policies and team requirements.
