The role
This is an opportunity for an early-career scientist to join the Pixelgen R&D team and help develop the next generation of single-cell products. We are looking for a hands-on, curious lab scientist to support our assay development team by preparing cells, developing and validating antibody panels, and building the reagents behind our products. This is a great first step into industry for a recent MSc graduate, or for someone with a few years of experience in an industry or academic lab.
Responsibilities
- Culture and maintain cell lines (mouse and human) and primary cells as input material for assay development.
- Isolate human immune cells, including PBMCs, and prepare them for downstream assays.
- Perform flow cytometry (FACS) experiments to characterize cells and validate antibody performance.
- Validate antibodies and antibody panels, and help assess their specificity, sensitivity, and overall performance.
- Conjugate antibodies to oligonucleotides and perform quality control on the resulting reagents.
- Support R&D scientists in running experiments and NGS-based workflows, including library preparation.
- Perform microscopy where needed to support assay characterization and validation.
- Document experiments carefully and keep accurate records of samples, reagents, and results.
- Collaborate with R&D, Computational Biology, and Manufacturing colleagues and share results with the team.
Qualifications
- M.Sc. in biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field. Recent graduates and candidates with initial industry experience are welcome.
- Hands-on experience with cell culture of cell lines and primary cells, ideally both mouse and human.
- Experience isolating human immune cells, ideally PBMC isolation.
- Experience with flow cytometry/FACS.
- Experience with antibody validation and antibody panel development and validation.
- Experience with antibody-oligo conjugation chemistry.
- Familiarity with NGS-based workflows is preferred but not required.
- Experience with microscopy is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and a structured approach to lab work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
