What you'll do

Join Copenhagen Energy Trading as our next Quantitative Researcher - Algorithmic Trading (Short-term Power Markets) Copenhagen Energy Trading (CET) shapes the future of the energy transition by combining deep market expertise with technical excellence in data, quantitative research and engineering to drive, automate and optimise our trading operations. We’re a small, elite team based in central Copenhagen specializing in power trading and asset management across Europe and North America. Technology is core to how we operate, powered by exceptional talent and one of Europe’s most advanced automated and analytical trading environments for power markets. But we're not done. We want to push automation and advanced analytics even further, and to do that we need more exceptional people. The Opportunity That’s where you come in. We’re looking for an outstanding Quantitative Researcher with a proven track record of building real-time algorithmic trading strategies that operate with high reliability in regulated industries. You'll play a key role in developing strategies for the European short-term power markets. This isn't a narrow coding or analyst role. You'll have an end-to-end mandate, from prototyping and data engineering to strategy implementation, backtesting and low-latency execution in our algorithmic trading framework. You'll own your projects from idea to P&L, working autonomously alongside a close-knit group of software engineers, quantitative researchers and expert traders. So, if you feel energized by the intersection of markets, advanced analytics and trading technology and you want to help build something that moves power to where it’s needed the most, then we must talk. Responsibilities

  • Research and model the markets: Analyse energy market dynamics and turn your insights into predictive models that drive profitable trading strategies.
  • Own the data: Build and maintain high-quality datasets that combine fundamental and real-time market data.
  • Take strategies to production and keep them running: Own the path from research to live trading, shaping the systems, forecasting tools and data pipelines that run our strategies in real time. Once they're live, you'll monitor their performance, handle issues as they come up and make sure they trade reliably day to day.
  • Shape the team's direction: Work closely with engineers, quantitative researchers and traders to challenge ideas, share expertise and influence where we take our algorithmic trading next.
  • Master the domain: Become a domain expert and understand algorithmic trading architectures and order execution logic in the short-term power markets.

Who are you? You have:

  • Quantitative expertise: A track record of building accurate forecasting models and trading strategies for financial or energy markets, with a rigorous approach to research and validation.
  • Software and data skills: Advanced Python skills, and the ability to write clean, efficient, reliable code, backed by solid computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, system design). Strong data skills, from sourcing and cleaning to structuring complex datasets. Some experience with C++ would be a plus.
  • Ownership: The ability to work independently and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication: Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with full professional proficiency in English.
  • Domain knowledge: A genuine interest in learning about power markets and systems. If you already have that domain knowledge, then that is a big plus.
  • Education: An advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering.

What We Offer

  • Growth environment: Be part of a young, ambitious, and expanding tech-driven trading company where talented people are given responsibility and room to grow.
  • Exceptional team: Work closely with experienced quantitative researchers, software engineers and power traders.
  • Competitive compensation and flexibility: Receive a competitive salary package with benefits and enjoy flexible work arrangements that support your work-life balance.
  • Strong culture: Participate in both social and professional events, including team sports, company parties, teambuilding and informal gatherings that strengthen our team spirit.
  • Central Copenhagen location: Work from our office in Carlsberg Byen, located in beautifully renovated historic Carlsberg buildings.
