What you'll do

Senior Project Manager – Onshore Wind Development Stockholm | Sweden The Opportunity An established renewable energy developer is building out its Swedish onshore wind development platform and is looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to drive a portfolio of projects from early-stage development towards investment readiness. This is an opportunity to join a growing, entrepreneurial team and take ownership of complex development projects, with a particular focus on permitting, environmental assessments, technical feasibility and project execution. The role is suited to someone who enjoys the detail of project development: identifying critical risks, challenging assumptions and finding practical solutions to move projects forward. Rather than focusing primarily on political stakeholder management, the emphasis is on evidence-based development, sound project decisions and delivering commercially viable projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Project delivery: Take operational ownership of assigned wind projects, managing development plans, budgets, schedules, risks and key milestones.
  • Permitting and environmental processes: Lead environmental and permitting workstreams, including consultation processes, EIA, ecological surveys and engagement with relevant authorities and specialist consultants.
  • Risk assessment and resolution: Identify and assess development constraints, including biodiversity, land use, grid capacity, defence restrictions and planning requirements. Develop practical solutions to overcome or mitigate these challenges.
  • Consultant and stakeholder management: Coordinate external technical, environmental and legal specialists, maintaining constructive, evidence-based relationships with authorities, landowners and other professional stakeholders.
  • Technical and commercial integration: Work closely with internal teams across grid, land, technical development and legal to ensure projects are optimised from a technical, regulatory and commercial perspective.
  • Budget management: Own project development budgets, ensuring expenditure is proportionate to the information gained, risks reduced and value created.
  • Project assessment: Review both internally originated and acquired projects, assessing existing documentation, validating assumptions and establishing plans to address outstanding development risks.
  • Continuous improvement: Contribute to building processes and ways of working across a growing project development team, sharing knowledge and improving project delivery.

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for an analytical, commercially minded and solutions-focused project developer who is comfortable managing complex projects and multiple workstreams. You will ideally have:

  • Several years' experience in onshore wind development, or another complex renewable energy or infrastructure sector.
  • Experience managing environmental assessments, permitting processes and engagement with relevant authorities.
  • The ability to lead consultants and multidisciplinary teams, without needing to be the technical expert in every area.
  • Strong project management skills, including budget control, scheduling, risk management and documentation.
  • A commercial mindset, with an understanding of the relationship between development risk, time, expenditure and project value.
  • The confidence to challenge assumptions, assess evidence and make informed recommendations, including go/no-go decisions.
  • A proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with the ability to find solutions rather than simply identify obstacles.
  • An interest in AI and new technologies, with an appetite to help shape more efficient ways of working.

Candidates from adjacent sectors, including other renewables, power infrastructure, environmental consulting, mining or industrial development, will also be considered where they can demonstrate relevant project delivery and permitting experience. Team & Working Environment The successful candidate will join a growing Swedish development team, working closely with regional development colleagues and specialist functions across grid, land, technical development, legal and commercial. The organisation operates with a clear division of responsibilities: this role focuses on project execution and evidence-based development, while a separate regional function leads municipal approval, political engagement and local stakeholder strategy. The business is building its development platform from the ground up, with AI and digital tools forming an integral part of its operating model. This is an opportunity to influence processes, contribute to a collaborative team and help shape how projects are developed.
