Founded in Norway in 1877, Helly Hansen continues to develop professional grade apparel that helps people stay and feel alive. Through insights drawn from living and working in the world’s harshest environments, the company has developed a long list of first-to-market innovations, including the first supple waterproof fabrics nearly 150 years ago. Other breakthroughs include the first fleece fabrics in the 1960s, the first technical base layers in the 1970s, made with LIFA® Stay Dry technology, the patented H2Flow™ temperature regulating system, and the revolutionary lighter, warmer LIFALOFT™ insulation. Building on Helly Hansen’s proprietary HELLY TECH® waterproof/breathable system, the technical outdoor brand has most recently introduced the award-winning LIFA INFINITY PRO™ - the company’s most innovative waterproof/breathable technology to date.

The Product Manager is a highly skilled category leadership role that owns the product vision and solution definition across multiple seasons in parallel. The role is the main link between Product and Marketing, turning customer, market, commercial, and strategic insight into clear seasonal product briefs and then translating the product intent into the product truth, value proposition, technology story, and proof points Marketing needs to build demand. Working through an extensive network across Product Merchandising, Design, Development, Materials, Sourcing, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and regional teams, the Product Manager keeps product creation and go-to-market development connected from pre-brief through launch. The Product Manager is accountable for building a differentiated product pipeline that meets immediate seasonal needs while delivering sustainable Workwear category growth over a 1–3-year horizon, within the commercial framework set by Product Merchandising.
Key Responsibilities

Seasonal Product Brief Ownership
- Author of seasonal product briefs based on structured commercial inputs from Product Merchandising
- Clearly define performance intent, feature priorities, and value propositions
- Ensure briefs are focused, realistic, and decision‑ready — not wish lists
Product-to-Marketing Leadership
- Act as the primary interface between Product and Marketing throughout the seasonal process, ensuring Marketing is engaged from pre-brief and brief development through build, sell-in, launch, and post-launch learning
- Provide Marketing with the finished product brief, product intent, target user, value proposition, technologies, differentiating features, proof points, and credible product stories needed to build the go-to-market plan
- Brief Marketing on new technologies and seasonal storytelling opportunities, and ensure product claims and messages remain accurate, relevant, and grounded in the product
- Partner with the Category Marketing Director and Marketing team as they define audiences, channels, budget, campaign plan, assets, and market activation
- Support product launches, sales meetings, Key Account presentations, and sales enablement as the authoritative product voice
- Use campaign performance, sell-through, customer, Sales, and market feedback to strengthen future product briefs and roadmaps
Cross‑Functional Product Leadership
- Serve as the hub between commercial intent, product creation, and Marketing, maintaining one clear product narrative and aligned decisions across the seasonal process
- Lead alignment and decision-making across Design, Development, Materials, Sourcing, Product Merchandising, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and regional teams
- Translate product vision into clear priorities, resolve cross-functional trade-offs, and maintain momentum across multiple seasons in parallel
- Partner with Product Merchandising to align product ambition with price, tiering, margin, and assortment role
- Build organizational commitment around product choices without relying on formal authority over all contributors
Portfolio & Lifecycle Thinking
- Manage interconnected product initiatives across their full lifecycle—concept, launch, evolution, and exit—while balancing current-season delivery with future-season development
- Own the product roadmap and pipeline for assigned areas, ensuring choices translate into measurable Workwear category growth over the next 1–3 years
- Ensure new products strengthen the portfolio, avoid unnecessary overlap, and build scalable platforms
- Drive rationalization, lifecycle, and platform-reuse decisions where appropriate
Market & Performance Insight
- Monitor product performance, customer feedback, and competitive landscape
- Translate insights into improvements for future briefs and roadmaps
- Contribute to continuous learning across seasons
Experience & Skills
- Typically 7+ years of progressive experience in product management, category management, or equivalent product leadership roles
- Demonstrated ownership of complex, multi-season product roadmaps and commercially meaningful category outcomes
- Strong ability to define ambiguous problems, prioritize requirements, make trade-offs, and take decisions with incomplete information
- Commercial fluency across price, margin, volume, and SKU discipline
- Proven ability to influence senior and cross-functional stakeholders across a complex, matrixed organization
- Deep experience in apparel, workwear, footwear, or equipment categories strongly preferred
