What you'll do

ADA is partnering with Star Information Systems to recruit Product Managers who will help shape the future of maritime and offshore software. This is what we are building STAR develops the next generation of digital workspaces for operations, maintenance and procurement in maritime and offshore companies, with customers around the world. We want to make daily work simpler and safer for the people who operate vessels and critical assets, with less time spent on administration, manual registration and regulatory follow-up. Our products connect vessels, fleet organisations, suppliers, class and authorities. Using AI and close collaboration with our customers, we build new requirements into the products without adding work for the users. About the role Thousands of users plan maintenance, carry out inspections, buy parts and services and document compliance in our products. We are looking for experienced professionals who want to shape how that work is done. You will own your own modules and become a key expert in product development within your area. You report to the CPSO and work closely with the other product managers, the developers and customers who develop the products together with us. The role is customer-facing and commercial: you take part in sales meetings and implementations, and show customers what the products can do for them. About the product team The product team is led by the CPSO and has product managers for areas such as maintenance, QHSE, technical data and procurement. We work closely with our development teams in Norway, Turkey, North Macedonia and Singapore. STAR also has offices in Denmark, the UK, Italy, Brazil and Malaysia. About the procurement product area Procurement should be about value, quality and reliable delivery. We are building a product that connects the need directly to operations and gives better decision support, so the right item arrives on time and at the agreed price. The goal is to free buyers from routine work, so they have more time for supplier development, category management and commercial improvements. Domain expertise This expertise can come from operations, from engineering or from advisory work, for example with a classification society, an equipment supplier or a consultancy. We are looking for in-depth knowledge in several of these areas, for example:

  • Strategic procurement: category management, spend analysis and supplier strategy
  • Contracts: frame agreements, price agreements and contract follow-up
  • Suppliers: qualification, follow-up and supplier development
  • Catalogues and master data: product data, classification and standards such as IMPA and UNSPSC
  • Operations: services procurement, logistics and warehousing

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop parts of the procurement product, from need to order, receipt and invoice, with responsibility for backlog, priorities and release plan
  • Map how customers buy spare parts, consumables and services, and lead development together with customers and suppliers
  • Design functionality for catalogues, frame agreements, supplier qualification, services procurement, warranty and returns, linked to the maintenance products
  • Write requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, and work closely with the developers
  • Present the products and their possibilities to customers and prospects, and support sales, proposals and implementation with domain expertise
  • Follow up testing, roll-out and adoption at customers
  • Advise management and the product team on direction within procurement

We are looking for someone with

  • Motivation to build a better procurement product for shipping and oil and gas
  • Extensive procurement experience from shipping, offshore or other heavy industry, ideally 15 years or more
  • Or extensive experience as an engineer or advisor responsible for specification, procurement or contracts, for example from projects, shipyards or suppliers
  • Experience as a user of procurement systems and ERP, ideally also maintenance systems
  • Good English, ideally also Norwegian or another Scandinavian language

It is an advantage if you have

  • Experience from sales, advisory work or account management
  • Experience from product development, software development, system implementation or digitalisation projects, or as a super user
  • Experience with, or interest in, AI and agentic development
  • Experience from the supplier side, for example a ship chandler, manufacturer or distributor

Personal qualities

  • Structured and analytical
  • Curious about how users work
  • Willing to prioritise and make decisions, even when that means saying no
  • Commercially minded, and confident with customers, engineers and operational staff

We offer

  • Reporting directly to the CPSO
  • The chance to see your own ideas put to use by customers
  • Hands-on work with AI and agentic development
  • An international environment with customers and colleagues in many countries
  • Competitive terms
