What you'll do

Quote You’ll build and run the shared data platform capabilities that support data products, forecasting models and analytics workflows at Danske Commodities. Working with demanding internal users from day one, you’ll shape how our engineers and quants work every day and share responsibility for a broad platform estate with your team Here’s what the job entails In the role, your primary function will be to design, build and run our internal data platform capabilities. You will build the shared tools, platform frameworks and self-service paths that turn agreed engineering practices into capabilities other teams can use. You will gain valuable experience with modern data platforms, developer platforms (Backstage) and AI-assisted engineering. More specifically, your responsibilities include: - building and improving the core platform frameworks and tools our engineers use to bring data onto the platform - setting up and running cloud data infrastructure on Azure (Databricks, databases, streaming) so that it is reliable, secure and cost-efficient - implementing self-service 'golden paths' so teams can start a new data product without waiting for us - setting up, integrating and running hosted data tooling, such as data catalogue and data-quality products - operating the platform capabilities you build, including monitoring, incident investigation, performance and continuous improvement Meet your team You will join our Data Platform Infrastructure team, where we build and run the data platform that Danske Commodities builds on. Our primary responsibilities include compute platforms, streaming infrastructure, data ingestion framework, machine learning infrastructure and hosted data tooling. Working alongside Data Platform Enablement, which owns foundational data ingestion, canonical modelling and engineering methods, we make it fast and safe for other teams to build and operate their own data products. We are a newly formed team of four experienced engineers, growing to nine team members. Our backgrounds are currently within software engineering, cloud infrastructure and data-science platforms. We work with Python, C#/.NET and Rust, test-driven and with a strong focus on automation. We always seek to build things our users want to use, not just things they have to use. But enough about us… over to you! As you will be building the foundations that other teams rely on every day, we imagine that you enjoy solving engineering problems and turning challenges into practical solutions. We also picture you as a collaborative person who values working across teams and understanding users’ needs, while taking ownership of your own areas. Furthermore, we imagine that you: - hold a relevant educational background within computer science, software engineering or similar – or equivalent practical experience - have experience as a software engineer building production systems - are proficient in C#/.NET and Python - have hands-on experience with cloud, containers and CI/CD (e.g. Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub Actions) - are proficient in English - both written and spoken Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role. We’ll take good care of you At Danske Commodities, we take great care of our people. Joining us means you’ll get a lot of great perks – including social events, cultural experiences, tasty food and benefits to better your health, your life and your future.
