Minecraft Java Engineer

Role: Minecraft Java Engineer Senior Software Engineer - Minecraft Java Edition Overview The Minecraft Java team is responsible for evolving one of the world's most creative and community-driven gaming platforms. We are looking for an experienced Java Engineer to build gameplay systems, world-generation features, multiplayer functionality, tools, and platform services that power Minecraft Java Edition. You will collaborate with game designers, artists, gameplay engineers, and quality teams to deliver features enjoyed by millions of players worldwide. Responsibilities Design and develop gameplay features in Java Implement and enhance world-generation systems Develop multiplayer and server-side functionality Improve game performance, scalability, and stability Build systems supporting mods and community extensibility Debug and resolve customer-reported issues Optimize memory usage and runtime performance Collaborate with designers to translate gameplay concepts into technical solutions Contribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience 4+ years of software engineering experience Strong Java development skills Expertise in object-oriented design and design patterns Experience developing large-scale applications or games Strong debugging and performance profiling skills Experience with multithreading and concurrency Knowledge of networking fundamentals Preferred Qualifications Experience with Minecraft modding ecosystems Experience with server technologies Familiarity with OpenGL, LWJGL, or rendering systems Knowledge of game development pipelines Experience with cloud services and telemetry systems Technical Skills Java JVM Performance Tuning Multithreading Networking REST APIs Git CI/CD Automated Testing Minecraft C++ Engineer
