MEP Lead – Mission Critical Infrastructure Location: Vestland, Norway Type: Contract / Freelance Project: Major Mission-Critical Infrastructure Development Role Overview Linnk Group is supporting a major mission-critical infrastructure development in Norway and is seeking an experienced MEP Lead to take responsibility for the coordinated delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems across multiple project phases. The MEP Lead will oversee the MEP scope from design development through construction, testing, commissioning and final handover. The successful candidate will ensure systems are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with programme, quality, reliability and operational requirements. This is a highly cross-functional position working closely with design, construction, commercial, planning, quality, safety, commissioning and operations teams, alongside general contractors, consultants, specialist vendors, utilities and relevant authorities. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordinated delivery of mechanical, electrical, controls, fire protection and public health systems.
  • Ensure all MEP activities comply with project safety requirements, Norwegian regulations, permits, codes and applicable engineering standards.
  • Coordinate interfaces between MEP systems and civil, structural, architectural, utility and ICT packages.
  • Lead design coordination, constructability reviews, technical reviews and design risk assessments.
  • Ensure design information is sufficiently coordinated and mature before release for construction.
  • Manage MEP construction priorities, sequencing, access requirements, temporary systems and work-front readiness.
  • Identify and remove constraints affecting installation, testing, system completion and commissioning.
  • Provide MEP input into the integrated project programme, recovery plans and milestone forecasting.
  • Review proposed changes and assess their impact on scope, cost, schedule, quality, operability and lifecycle performance.
  • Establish inspection and testing expectations and ensure quality records, non-conformances, red-line drawings and completion documentation are maintained.
  • Coordinate system energisation, shutdowns, testing, commissioning, training, spares and final handover activities.
  • Ensure procurement packages, vendor information and long-lead equipment dates support the overall delivery programme.
  • Maintain technical interface registers, decision logs, project risks and action trackers.
  • Track installation progress, productivity, inspections, system completion and commissioning readiness using project and field data.
  • Lead regular MEP coordination meetings and ensure actions are assigned, tracked and closed.
  • Support commercial and contractual assessments by providing clear technical information and supporting records.
  • Drive lessons learned between project phases and ensure unresolved issues are not carried forward.
  • Escalate technical, programme or delivery risks early, providing clear evidence, options and recommended actions.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree or recognised technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience leading multidisciplinary MEP delivery on complex construction or engineering projects.
  • Experience within data centres, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities or other high-availability environments is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, including design coordination, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants and specialist vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, risk management, change control and quality management.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction documentation and system completion records.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technical disciplines and resolving complex interface issues.
  • Familiarity with Norwegian regulations and engineering requirements would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Norwegian language capability would be beneficial but is not essential.

Key Attributes

  • Strong safety leadership with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving risk.
  • Ability to make practical decisions based on technical requirements and site conditions.
  • Strong stakeholder and contractor management capability.
  • Confident working across different organisations, disciplines and contractual interfaces.
  • Able to communicate technical risks and project issues clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong focus on delivering complete, reliable and maintainable systems rather than individual work packages.
  • Calm and structured approach to escalation, problem solving and decision-making.

Measures of Success Success within the role will include:

  • Safe and compliant delivery of the MEP scope.
  • Coordinated design information available in line with construction requirements.
  • Achievement of key MEP construction and commissioning milestones.
  • Reduced clashes, rework, defects and overdue technical actions.
  • Effective management of contractor performance and technical interfaces.
  • Complete commissioning, handover and system documentation.
  • Delivery of systems that meet long-term reliability, maintainability and operational requirements.
