What you'll do

Mechanical Supervisor Front-line leadership of mechanical crews: safe installation, right first time, on programme. Role Overview The Mechanical Supervisor leads Sensori's mechanical trades at the workface, translating the weekly plan into daily allocations and making sure pipework, ductwork, plant and equipment are installed safely, to drawing and to the quality standard on the first attempt. The role briefs and monitors crews, controls materials and plant for its area, keeps test packs and punch lists current and is the first point of escalation for technical and coordination issues. It suits a time-served pipefitter, plumber or HVAC fitter with supervisory experience who takes ownership of an area and its people. Principal duties and responsibilities - Plan and allocate daily work for fitters, plumbers, apprentices and subcontract labour in line with the weekly look-ahead; set clear targets and monitor output. - Deliver daily briefings and toolbox talks; ensure every task has an approved risk assessment and method statement and that permits, including lifting and hot-work permits, are in place before work starts. - Supervise installation of pipework, ductwork, supports, plant, valves and mechanical equipment to drawing, specification and applicable standards. - Carry out first-line quality checks and installation benchmarks; complete inspection checklists on the project platform and raise and close punch-list items for the area. - Prepare systems for pressure testing, flushing and insulation; support the QA team in assembling test packs and witness records. - Manage materials, consumables and plant for the area, including requisitions, deliveries, storage and returns. - Coordinate day to day with electrical, civil and other trades to resolve clashes and keep areas available. - Record progress, hours and labour returns accurately; report percent complete, constraints and risks to the Construction Manager or Package Manager. - Maintain housekeeping, access and welfare standards in the work area; stop work and escalate where conditions are unsafe. - Coach apprentices and less experienced fitters and contribute to performance reviews. Selection criteria / person specification - Qualified pipefitter, plumber or HVAC fitter (National Craft Certificate or equivalent) with a valid site safety card. - At least three years supervising mechanical crews on commercial, industrial or data centre projects. - Sound knowledge of mechanical installation practice, pressure-testing procedures and permit-to-work systems. - Able to read and set out from mechanical drawings, isometrics and P&IDs. - Experience completing digital inspection checklists and test-pack documentation. - Organised and reliable, with clear communication and a firm, fair approach to managing people. - Basic computer skills for reporting, timesheets and drawing viewing. - Willing to work the shift patterns and travel the project requires.
