Mechanical Maintenance & Inventory Specialist

The Opportunity We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance & Inventory Specialist to join our team, supporting a major mining operation in Europe. This is a hands-on consulting role focused on warehouse spares management, inventory control and maintenance materials, supporting multiple yards and working closely with the maintenance team to ensure critical mechanical spares are available, properly managed and aligned with maintenance requirements. The role will involve oversight of approximately 5–6 yards, coordinating the warehouse/spares team and ensuring effective inventory management, stock control and organisation across the operation. The successful candidate will bring a strong mechanical maintenance background, combined with practical experience in warehouse, spare parts and inventory management. Experience working within a mining, heavy industrial or similar environment is highly desirable. This is a 12 months, FIFO role within Europe, and candidates must be EU citizens with unrestricted rights to work in the European Union. The role is suited to someone who is comfortable working on a FIFO roster and travelling to the client's operation from their European home base. What You'll Be Doing

• Managing and coordinating warehouse spares across approximately 5–6 yards
• Providing day-to-day oversight and direction to the warehouse/spares team
• Managing mechanical spare parts, maintenance materials and critical inventory
• Maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained
• Conducting regular inventory checks, stocktakes and reconciliation activities
• Identifying obsolete, excess and critical spares and making recommendations for improved inventory management
• Working closely with maintenance teams to understand upcoming requirements and ensure critical spares are available when required
• Supporting maintenance planning through effective availability and management of spare parts and materials
• Establishing and maintaining appropriate systems, processes and controls for warehouse and inventory management
• Improving warehouse organisation, storage, identification, tracking and issuing of mechanical spares
• Coordinating the movement of spares and materials between multiple yards and work areas
• Working with procurement and maintenance teams to support purchasing and replenishment requirements
• Reviewing existing inventory and warehouse processes and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and improved efficiency
• Ensuring appropriate controls are in place for high-value and critical mechanical components
• Supporting the maintenance team with technical identification and specification of mechanical spares where required
• Providing practical advice on spare parts requirements based on equipment, maintenance strategies and historical usage
• Producing inventory, warehouse and maintenance materials reports for client management
• Building strong working relationships with maintenance, procurement, logistics and site leadership
• Working autonomously and taking ownership of warehouse and inventory improvement initiatives
• Supporting the development and implementation of practical systems and procedures across the multiple yards

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, spare parts, inventory or warehouse management, preferably within mining, heavy industry or a similar environment
• Strong mechanical background with a good understanding of mining or industrial equipment and associated spare parts
• Experience coordinating or managing warehouse operations across multiple locations, yards or stores
• Experience supervising, coordinating or leading warehouse/inventory personnel
• Strong understanding of maintenance requirements and the relationship between maintenance planning, equipment availability and spare parts
• Practical experience with stock control, inventory accuracy, stocktakes, replenishment and materials management
• Ability to identify critical, obsolete and excess inventory and develop practical recommendations
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable working directly with maintenance and operational teams in a site environment
• Able to work independently, take initiative and implement practical improvements
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with ERP, CMMS or inventory management systems is desirable
• Mechanical trade qualification, engineering qualification or equivalent practical mechanical experience is desirable
• Must be an EU citizen with unrestricted rights to work in the European Union
• Must be able and willing to FIFO from a European home base to the client's operation
