Mechanical Design Engineer – CATIA V6 Location: Lund, Sweden Contract: 12 months Start Date: As soon as possible Employment Type: Contract Application Deadline: Urgent – shortlisting for Thursday submission The Opportunity We are recruiting a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support a major international engineering project based in Lund, Sweden. This opportunity involves working within a highly technical, multidisciplinary engineering environment, supporting the design, integration, manufacturing and installation of complex mechanical systems. The successful candidate will have strong experience in CATIA-based mechanical design, technical drawings, precision engineering and design documentation, with the ability to work independently and contribute to demanding engineering deliverables. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and maintain 2D engineering drawings and 3D mechanical models using CATIA V6.
• Integrate mechanical components and assemblies into complex master CAD models.
• Generate detailed mechanical designs from technical specifications and engineering requirements.
• Produce conceptual, detailed, manufacturing and installation drawings.
• Manage design revisions, configuration control and engineering documentation.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and relevant ISO engineering standards.
• Review mechanical designs, production drawings and engineering packages for quality and compliance.
• Support mechanical assembly, installation and integration activities onsite.
• Coordinate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure design requirements are achieved.
• Participate in engineering inspections, quality reviews and acceptance testing where required.
• Support the preparation, maintenance and review of technical documentation.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' professional experience in mechanical CAD design engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience using CATIA.
• Strong experience in 2D technical drawing production and 3D mechanical modelling.
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes and mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of GD&T and its application to production drawings.
• Experience with design maturity, version control and engineering release processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into practical mechanical designs.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Desirable Experience Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

• CATIA V6 in complex engineering environments.
• Scientific research facilities or large-scale technical infrastructure.
• Precision engineering and micrometric tolerances.
• Mechanical design for accelerator or detector environments.
• Vacuum, pressure, gas flow or cryogenic systems.
• Radiation environments, magnetic fields or high-temperature systems.
• Mechanical installation and maintenance drawings.
• Configuration management and CAD data management systems.
• Manufacturing follow-up, acceptance testing and quality inspections.
