The successful candidates will work alongside commissioning engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure mechanical systems are installed correctly, tested thoroughly, and prepared for operational handover in line with project specifications, quality standards, and health and safety requirements. The client will cover flights, accommodation, and three meals per day, allowing contractors to focus on delivering the project. Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical inspections and ensure equipment and installations meet project specifications and design requirements.
  • Assist with the commissioning of HVAC systems, chillers, cooling systems, pumps, pipework, valves, and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Perform functional testing and support pre-commissioning activities, including flushing, pressure testing, and system checks where required.
  • Conduct line walks and verify mechanical installations against P&IDs, technical drawings, and commissioning documentation.
  • Identify, document, and report defects, installation issues, and commissioning deficiencies.
  • Assist with the preparation, execution, and completion of commissioning test sheets, checklists, and quality documentation.
  • Support the completion of punch lists and ensure outstanding issues are resolved before system handover.
  • Work closely with mechanical commissioning engineers, electrical teams, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Follow project-specific procedures and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and housekeeping.
  • Support system turnover and handover activities to ensure equipment is ready for the next commissioning phase.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Technician, Mechanical Technician, Commissioning Technician, or in a similar mechanical role.
  • Experience working on large-scale construction, industrial, commercial, or critical infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems, equipment installation, inspection, and testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical documentation, and P&IDs.
  • Experience with commissioning documentation, inspection checklists, and defect reporting.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures within a construction or engineering environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and follow project procedures.
  • Willingness to work in Norway on a 2-weeks-on / 1-week-off rotation for the duration of the contract.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working on data centre construction or commissioning projects.
  • Experience with critical cooling infrastructure, including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, and chilled water systems.
  • Familiarity with mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning processes.
  • Experience with pressure testing, flushing, leak testing, and functional performance testing.
  • Knowledge of commissioning procedures, method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Experience working on hyperscale data centre projects or other mission-critical facilities.
