Mechanical Commissioning Lead – Denmark

About the Role
GemPool is partnering with a leading engineering organisation to hire a Mechanical Commissioning Lead for a major data centre project in Denmark.
This is a permanent opportunity with a significant portfolio of works planned for the next 5+ years. You will take ownership of mechanical commissioning activities, coordinating specialist vendors, engineers and project stakeholders to ensure systems are commissioned safely, correctly and in line with the required quality and programme standards.
You will work closely with the wider project team, including Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Planning and Engineering, while also supporting junior engineers and contributing to the successful delivery of the project.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement the mechanical commissioning plan.
- Review IFC drawings, specifications and technical submittals.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with planners, package engineers and specialist vendors.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on commissioning-related cost impacts.
- Attend client commissioning meetings and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
- Ensure descriptions of operations and setpoints are approved.
- Ensure commissioning checklists, scripts and documentation meet the required standards.
- Manage specialist vendors and ensure their activities align with the project programme.
- Verify and witness commissioning activities.
- Maintain commissioning trackers, logs and weekly progress reports.
- Lead walkdowns, tag walks and system sign-off.
- Manage snag lists and ensure issues are closed out efficiently.
- Ensure client training is completed in line with the project schedule.
- Define system boundaries, manage benchmarks and oversee test packs.
- Identify and report commissioning risks and potential programme impacts.
- Support the wider project team in proactively managing potential delays.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their development.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in mechanical commissioning.
- Proven experience leading and coordinating commissioning activities.
- Experience managing specialist vendors and multiple project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of commissioning documentation, checklists, scripts, test packs and system sign-off.
- Ability to review technical documentation including IFC drawings and specifications.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage commissioning activities against programme requirements.
- Strong communication skills, particularly when communicating risks, issues and potential programme impacts.
- Experience working closely with Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Planning and Engineering teams.
- Ability to take ownership of commissioning activities and drive issues through to completion.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
