Master Thesis: Energy Monitoring and Optimization in Cloud RAN

Join our Team About this opportunity: We are looking for a talented Master's student to conduct a research thesis on energy monitoring and optimization of Virtualized Network Functions in Cloud RAN environments. This project combines cloud computing, telecommunications, and system design. It offers hands-on experience with testbed environments, prototyping, experimental evaluation, and the development of solutions that can contribute to future production systems. What you will do:

• Develop and validate a Cloud RAN system for energy monitoring and optimization.
• Investigate how the information flow for energy monitoring and optimization can be improved.
• Design, build, and test prototypes based on the proposed monitoring and optimization solutions.
• Compare prototype results with data from Cloud RAN environments and use the findings to iterate on the designs.
• Document the results in a structured Master's thesis, including recommendations for future development and production deployment.
• Collaborate with our standardization team to assess technical feasibility and alignment with relevant standards.

The skills you bring:

• You are enrolled in or recently admitted to a Master's programme in Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, or a related field.
• You have a strong foundation in cloud computing and telecommunications architecture.
• You have experience with, or a willingness to quickly learn, telecommunications standards.
• You have basic knowledge of programming and API design.
• You have experience with experimental testing and data analysis.
• You have strong technical writing and communication skills.
• You have a structured problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.

The following are considered a plus:

• Previous experience with cloud and telecommunications projects.
• Familiarity with prototyping or API implementation.
• Experience with system design.
• Programming skills in Python or Go.
• Hands-on experience with cloud tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
